Another grammar question - こと

So I've just learnt how to use こと to give a reason. Here's an example sentence:

日本人は一年間に一兆円もファストフードにお金を使っています。理由はファストフードは非常に手軽に利用できること、忙しい人が多くなったこと、それに一人暮らしの人が増えていることなどです。

Japanese people spend as much as one-trillion yen per year on fast food. Some of the reasons for that is that fast food is easy to get, people have become busier, and the number of people living alone is increasing.

Ok, so I understand the meaning, but when would you use this sentence pattern instead of something like ～し、～し、～からです?

Would the following also be ok? 「ファストフードは非常に手軽に利用できるし、忙しい人が多くなった し、それに一人暮らしの人が増えているからです」?

理由はファストフードは非常に手軽に利用できること、忙しい人が多くなったこと、それに一人暮らしの人が増えていることなどです。
The reason to use こと in the above sentence is to make the subject and complement coherent.
The subject is 理由 which is noun, so its complement need to be also noun.
So こと is used for nominalization of following verb clauses.
If you want to say
ファストフードは非常に手軽に利用できるし、忙しい人が多くなったし、それに一人暮らしの人が増えているからです。
then you have to start the sentence なぜなら instead of 理由は.

Is it possible to combine the effect and cause into a single sentence like such ?
I feel a little strange about three は parts but hopefully that can be adjusted.

Since I'm in a hurry now there's the possibility this may be total nonsense too.

Yes, it is possible. But need a little adjustment about particle.

ファストフードは非常に手軽に利用できるし、忙しい人が多くなったし、それに一人暮らしの人が増えているからです。
は after 日本人 need to be changed to が, otherwise it sounds as if there are two topics in one sentence and is unnatural/confusing.

Difference? Well, の is kana and 理由 is kanji so the latter takes more time to write down...
haha, just kidding!

Not much difference in meaning, but "no" is more... natural and smooth.
I guess の is more comm

I guess の is more commonly used, and one might use 理由 in formal speech or when he/she wants to emphasize the "reason".

どうもありがとう。その分の場合「のは」というのはもっとも一般的な言い方ですが、(英語で、"because of these things...") 「理由は、わけは、」は、"the reason that" を強調していますね。

ファストフードにお金を使いすぎるの（原因）は、ファストフードは非常に手軽に利用できるし、忙しい人が多くなった し、それに一人暮らしの人が増えているからです。といってもいいでしょうか？
