AEON Interview

Welp, I've been confirmed for an upcoming interview with AEON. Now I've got to makeup a 30 minute lesson plan. Hmmmm, I wonder how I can torture my victims during the demonstration ;-).

It's good to have something easily understandable, and also be prepared to be genki! Which I was not. Heh, got sick on the day of the interview so I was kinda the opposite. Anyway, I landed a job here regardless through some eikaiwa, so it's still cool.

At my interview I saw a lot of different activities. One person taught body parts using manga he drew (not a good idea), another person did a game activity where one team would change something in the room for the other team to figure out, and I did some simple preposition activity using animal drawings on the white board (ex. "The snake is next to the ___"). Good luck, and I hope you get a good placement. I've heard with AEON, it's kind of hit-or-miss, as far as experiences go.

I used to work for AEON at their Chubu Honbu office in Nagoya as an ET. A good enough experience I suppose, met some really nice people although the most creative freedom you'll have as an AEON employee will be in designing a lesson plan for your orientation interview, heh. After you are assigned a branch school, your real training takes place. The AEON teaching method is very formulaic to say the least so don't stress out too much over this simple task. Just be creative and have fun.

from what i heard, by now they should have it set up so that you don't even have to do lesson plans anymore. the books were supposed to have been redone and have lesson plans set up.

Ditto on all advice given on personal grooming. It's crucial! ... as is the demo. Make it organized, make it completely understandable at the outset, make up a handout of some kind to include with your lesson if appropriate. They like to see preparation.

Sorry to bring back such an old topic, but I have an interview tomorrow and the only concern I have remaining is my hair. A fast response would be greatly appreciated, I have long hair which I usually simply put into braids, would going like this all but cost me any chance at the job?

No its fine, i wanted a direct answer, also I have a brand new suit, shined shoes, strong resume, lesson plan, I speak well, I am charismatic, I behave in professional manner. But like Glenski said, its too late to do anything now, I will just go with what I got and hope for the best. but thanks for the responses.

Hey! I know this is a pretty old thread but it seems to be the first thing that pops up when I search for 'experiences at aeon' on google.

What is appropriate/professional for girls to wear to the interview? Business attire is obvious...but for some reason, this is not as easy as 'just' wearing a suit! I'm not too familiar with these customs in Japan...
