So today I bought a present for my friend, but I haven't given it to him yet. Can I still say ? Doesn't this imply that I've already given him the present, as あげた is in the past tense.
What would be the best way to say this? Or does the latter sentence have "for the sake of" connotations, i.e. it was a bit of a burden for me to do it for him.
Cheers.
