Had a Job Offer, Company Withdrew it

As the title says, and as those can imagine. I'm disappointed and frustrated. Mostly because I've been trying to get work for a while now. And I'd been in Japan for years. So when a company decided to hire me, I was feeling relieved. Especially because I have been trying to find work for so long. And it just seems I only get rejections.

Then they decided to withdraw it after I did all that they asked.

So now I'm back to job hunting. And I just feel so exhausted. I don't know where to even look anymore because of all the fake job postings.

Any advice for sites other than gaijinpot, jobs in Japan, and the other usual ones? Or even for places for direct hire? I'd be really grateful.

I have heard many people say this. They are postings for jobs that companies aren't actually trying to fill. Or actual phishing attempts.
Also known as "ghost jobs."

Why companies post fake jobs:

• Collect resumes for future needs
• Make employees feel their workload would be alleviated
• Appear open to external talent (two-thirds of companies)
• Make employees feel replaceable
• Test the market or keep up appearances

Warning signs of fake/ghost jobs:

• Posting remains open for over a month or months
• Vague job descriptions or titles
• Frequently re-posted same position
• No company information or contact details
• Company doesn't list it on their official website

I was, but that job screwed me over, and even when I contacted recruiters in the past I'd never get any replies or help even from places like Robert Walters. I was even willing to do English Teaching until I could get something better.

The one job that withdrew their offer was the closest I'd gotten to being back to being employed again in over a year.

I'm not even sure what to do anymore. I have a university degree and job experience. But all I seem to have is bad luck.

At this point a job with visa sponsorship willing to take me. I have my bachelors degree. Willing to learn. I have experience as a game tester in Tokyo, as well as acting, willing to teach English if needed.

I also graduated from a University in Tokyo. I never got to take the JLPT because covid hit shortly after I graduated. I'm guessing I have about N3 Japanese, and been working on improving it because I want to get N1.

I may be able to connect you to an English teaching job at an 英会話 in okazaki , aichi I'll look for anything regarding game testing specifically, acting jobs for foreigners might be difficult to attain outside of like one-off gigs... Speaking of that if you happen to have Japanese citizenship or spouse visa (but I'm guessing not, and I know you don't have PR either) you can actually get work easily on apps like Timee (apparently)
But yeah I'll try and see if I can find anything else, maybe specifically in Tokyo if that's what you're wanting... But if you don't mind a move to aichi I know there are some easy-hire English teaching jobs that my friend can get you

You must have better than N3 if you graduated from a university in Japan. Unless the curriculum was in English.

I don't, so I'll basically have to start all over again from the COE since I got screwed over.

Tokyo, Saitama, maybe Chiba are best as I still have my apartment in Tokyo. Game testing jobs likely won't do a COE to visa unfortunately. Cause I worked for them and they generally do dispatch and rarely hire someone for full time.

I've tried applying to entry position that offer training too, but no luck.

Have you looked at Keywords (localization company, particularly for games). They just recently posted that they were looking for people for their Japan office.

Used to work for them. They don't keep people long term and after you've worked there so many years they basically boot you out. They also don't do COE.

That's why they have a "high turnover" because they are always firing people to not keep anyone long term.

I appreciate any help tbh. I'm doing what I can on my end. It's just been stagnant. So many companies don't wanna hire someone unless they know someone too.

And I don't have money to go back to school to learn any new skills. Otherwise I'd do that. But even the cheapest ones need a year of fees up bring and I simply don't have 15,000$ for the first year to do that.

I was working so hard for stability, but I never had much luck finding a company who'd not toss me after a year.
