End of Twitter?

Hey, you Musk fanboys and girls out there, the Musk Management Manga Bible is about to be released!

「マンガでわかる イーロン・マスクの起業と経営」"Elon Musk's Entrepreneurship and Management Through Manga"

t27.webp LOL.

After Musk's continued self-serving actions including banning the kid who tracks his private jet and blocking links to Mastodon, I signed up for Mastodon today.
If nothing else I want to contribute to the growth of an alternative platform and take my few views off Twitter and out of Musk's pocket.
I picked universeodon.com because that's where George Takei went.

I believe speakers of English understand schadenfreude. Tesla shares are plummeting. Thanks for following, @mdchachi! :)

I signed up for Twitter some time around 2010, didn't get it, and never went back. About twice a year, I'd follow a link to a video posted there, then leave. It's literally the least interesting of all social media, and I don't get why it became so ubiquitous.

Musk's ownership has only made it that much worse.

Elon "My ego may be big, but it's also fragile" Musk. It was quite a power move to join a chat of journalists you'd banned, leave when asked a question, and remove the chat function entirely. Watching these "rich" "geniuses" implode isn't as fun as I thought it would be; more like a slow leak than a pop.

Twitter will die with a whimper.

I think the lack of conservative members active on it will kill it. I notice on Facebook very few people my age or older(the group that makes up conservatives) are not super active or vocal and I bet it's probably the same there. Trump followers are jumping ship big time lately and that will remove quite a few from Twitter that are there now. I'm sure there will be some hard core conservatives that will stay but I think slowly but surely it will die out as people find another fad location to join. Time will tell I guess.

I set up another JREF account yesterday and will use it to promote our content. As Majestic pointed out, it is not Twitter (yet), but it has potential.

You might get more response on Mastodon famichiki.jp which is where many english speakers are.

My brief foray into Mastodon died out shortly after I figured out I joined a server that was not particularly suited for me, and overall it wasn't nearly as intuitive or interesting as Twitter. So I've all but abandoned Mastodon and am still doing a lot of surfing on Twitter. Today I had my first push notification which was an ad for someone's subscription-based account. Up until a while ago (a few months) I only got notified when someone "liked" or replied to one of my tweets. Then I started getting notified from some random "thirst trap" accounts. Today I got pushed an ad for a subscription-based account. Plus my timeline is full of Elon-acolytes.
I'm on Discord, but I still find Discord to be super confusing. Well, I should say I have Discord installed...I rarely use it, and whenever I do I am always frustrated by it.
Apparently Zuckerberg is working on a Twitter-like app (text-based Instagram?). I'll probably give that a shot once its available.
Elon also appointed a new CEO to Twitter, so maybe she will have some positive effect (mild sarcasm emoji).

I haven't touched it in months myself. I check Twitter almost every day since I see stories and get insight I don't get elsewhere. But I don't participate or post beyond 'like'ing. Definitely it's ready for disruption as it's far from ideal.
