Hiking, I want to do it again. Had a hiking friend , but he passed away and I felt it was not a good idea to go into the forest myself.

This is the summit of Mount Tate (立山) in Toyama, with the Kurobe Dam, the Kita-Alps and Mount Haku (Hakusan) in the background. The photo was taken at the beginning of October.

These photos were also taken at the beginning of October when we climbed Hakusan (白山) from Ishikawa and spent a night on the mountain.

This is Mount Kirishima (霧島山) yesterday. In the background, the smouldering Sakurajima.

After hiking, we enjoyed a hot sand bath at Ibusuki Beach. The sand is heated by hot volcanic groundwater. Ten minutes for 1000 yen. The people in yukata are lining up for their sand baths.

I like the beach as much as anyone, but a sand bath sounds like a contradiction in terms

ooh a very nice cliff face, looks a bit like Joyama, which is just due south on the Izu peninsula. Almost died climbing there, fun times!
