Can someone explain to me why Chinese hate Japanese so much?

The hate for the Japanese in America after WWII was also very strong. Many people who fought against the Japanese in WWII thought using the atomic bomb to kill all of them was justice they deserved. The attack on Pearl Harbor caused a tremendous hatred towards the Japanese. My dad rarely talked about his experience on a submarine in WWII , but when he did , he told how after they sunk a Japanese ship , they sometimes surfaced near by. His job was to man the machine gun and shoot any of the Japanese survivors that tried to swim to the sub and climb on. He felt killing them was better than letting them drown slowly. When I wrote home about marrying my Japanese girlfriend , he told me if I did , don't ever come home and I would not be his son anymore.

The main reason is because governments and groups use this kind of hate as a tool. To gain power, followers, votes or money.
Yes, the history is there but that is not the explanation for why a young or middle-aged adult today would hate Japan.

When I was young, polack jokes were very common here. Making fun of Polish people. You don't hear those any more.
It makes me wonder now what was the impetus for the prevalence of those racist jokes.

Strange thoughts that you reminded me of on my wedding day to a Japanese girl. My father didn't say one word.

How do you guys get a chance to meet Japanese women in your life? Does it affect your surrounding after marrying to a Japanese? Are you more aware of your surrounding people in life especially the Chinese, etc.?

The US Navy sent me to Japan for 2 years. I never would have been able to afford to go if not for the Navy. If I had decided to live in Japan , I would probably have married a Japanese woman. I wanted to return to Maine to live and it didn't seem fair to expect A Japanese woman to give up her friends , family and customs to come live in Maine with me. As it turned out , I married a woman from England who came to Maine to live.

All of the Japanese women I've dated including the one I married were met while I was living in Japan.
Being married to Japanese, I'm more aware of the differences between Asian cultures and some of the cultural attitudes about other cultures.

Do you have children since your marriage?

Can someone explain to me why Chinese hate Japanese so much? I hate racism, worst thing that happen to humanity is racism...
The Chinese government has to have a convienant enemy and so they have things like a muesem where Chinese can "kill" Japanese. USA is an enemy too but not close enough and they often need the US so it is awkward. Modern Chinese hardly know their history since it had been messed around with so much and instilled with boring Communist dogma to cause they to forget it.

First, they're told to by their government, and second, the Japanese government has had difficulty with admitting past wrongs of past governments that has irritated neighbours.

One would think a simple "yeah, they did that, but they're all dead now, we're a new generation let's move on" would work, but sadly that's not human nature.

Revanchists want to stir the pot as they hate peace, and sadly it's all going to go the same old way it always does. Millions of people dying in wars because we all once again have to smash some aggressive narcissists who once again rose to the top of the heap.

Certainly there are reasons, but I've always been a little puzzled with the focus on the japanese, when during the 1800s there were a couple of 'opium wars' with Great Britain effectively being a drug lord, treaty ports and other such extra-territorial occupations by GB and other europeans/americans, the saga of the theft of tea so that it could be grown elsewhere (india, ceylon), the use of military force (besides the wars) to put down rebellions, and so on.

And it's great to talk about the japanese, but information about the Great Leap Forward should also be available, which was "one of the greatest mand-made disasters in human history"--between 15 and 55 million people died, and this likely exceeds the numbers for the second sino-japanese war. (The death toll during the Cultural Revolution was also significant.)

I dislike some Chinese girls, all they do is giggle and take selfie...

Darned if I know? I just typed in "Chinese food" and that .gif popped up. From the old joke that after you eat Chinese food , one hour later you are hungry again.
