Yoshiki, Gackt and Sugizo start band together

i completely agree with what you're saying melody...

the bassist i was thining of, though, was Nao from Kagrra,, and if you're familliar with the band... you'll know there is no chance of him leaving Izumi ^^;

but i suppose some may... but i don't know if Yoshiki would think to try and split some people up... it woudl be a bit malicious... even if he wasn't trying to be ^^;

Yea~ it's possible that some would leave for a project like THIS one~ but some how... I don't think that's the case, but whoever it is I think it will DEFINITELY be a BIG surprise to everyone~ I want more infromation on the whole thing..
.
There's one thing that is for sure... they've kept their secret REALLY well so far!

And I think that whoEVER was choosen has at least an ego to match the three confirmed members because Gackt said: ツ"We each have strong personalities so we're selfish. People around the world probably think that things won't go smoothly for us, but we're planning on being the first Asian band to top the world charts.ツ"

And I don't think it would be someone that's in a band because HOW long could something like that have been kept quiet? For the secret to have been kept so well, I think there's no way a WHOLE other band could have known.... But that's just what I think😌

"being the first Asian band to top the world charts"

this feels de javu-ish.. haha. v long ago i had a dream, of hide. he said sth abt "our era is over, but soon there'll be a band that will be the leading band in asia." n it was with such faith! haha. ok a lil no link..

will it really break a band up? its just a project right? can always go back after that or do both? jus a lil qn tho..

is there gonna be another legend in jrock history? if it created such news and it doesnt work, people will just kill them.

ya i agree that they kept it really well! no one knew anything til they say it themselves.. cool..

melody, i thought the exact same thing!
d'you think Yoshiki's wanting to live out Hide's dear or something?

i think the whole 'taking a band member from an esisting and active band' may cause a lot of friction within that band...
i mean... their going would have to mean the band would have to put their actuivity on hold... and i dont' know what the arrangements are... but i know Yashiki didn't write EVERYTHING musically when he was in X... the band mebers had a lot of contributing... and writting and learning songs takes a LOT of time... so... it would have to be a band that wouldn't mind taking a break for at least a couple of years.. or getting in a substitute... and i can imagin that would be a difficult thing...

maybe they themselves don't know who the other 2 member are yet though?
because i can imagin everything has to be delt with really sensitivley...

also... i bet they're a lottle panniced... because... can you imagin if it DIDN'T work out? it's quite a brave step really... i mean, gathering some of the greatest talent in Japan do do suce a task... and then if they were to fail... god... that would just be so awful!

If they fail X.x Especially with all the publicity there is about it ALREADY.... I don't think ANYONE would survive it~

I mean they're already big in the industry, EVERYONE is probably (never mind probably they ARE expecting a lot from them X.x) expecting a lot from them~ I really can't magine all the stress and tension they must be facing X.x But, I think if they actually manage to pull it off~ then it will be something really worth remembering~

Mind you what I'm afraid is that everyone will expect too much from them... I mean what if everyone's disappointed? :unsure: I would feel so bad if after all the trouble they took to keep things secet, after all the EXTENUATING amount of work they MUST have put and ARE probably putting in it~ it doesn't work... well then what?

But, I'd rather think positively and say "Whatever it is I'm sure it will be lovely~!"

i know >.<

but most definatly! it's an oportunity for an AMAZING musical moment in history... i don't think anyone's ever really done ANYTHING like this before... not in any culture... although... there was that groupe of people that got together and did worls type music with robie williams in... but that wasn't anywhere near this kind of comercial scale...

yup! that's exactly my point... i mean... i know these guys are cocky... but no-ones THAT cocky...
still... Yoshiki's Violety UK project produced some absolutely breath taking stuff... and that was just demo stuff! so i think we can be safe to think it will be good at least ^^;

Well, even if they ARE cocky... they do have a reason to be... they produced so amazing stuff in the past already 😌

Yea... it's quite huge X.x who knows what will happen when it's finally out... another thing to think about.... what if it's a one hit wonder? :unsure: I think that would be terrible too....

But, it's true Demo stuff was nice... so all we can do is hope and wait.... I guess I'm a little anxious though :p

i can't picture ANY of them being content with touring with one song... o.O

but i think i know what you mean... like.. they're just populare for this one tour, they go their separate ways, and the world forgets about Jrock again...
that would be... agrivating to way the least ^^;

Touring with just one song... hum~ I don't think that would happen either~

It would suck if they separated after their first tour~ I think I would be alittle angry~ and especially if what they creat is something really beautiful~ I think it would be like giving everyone that REALLY a fan false hopes~ And that's just not fair~

But maybe that's just me? Maybe I'm anticipating this band to much...? But I can't help it really they're all people I really respect individually for the music they created and it would be a bit of a let down for then to just come and go... :p

i don't think they're making a 'band'
i think it's a project... so, they're likely to come out with a album, but i don't think thet'll mean the guys will stop their solo work...

they'll tour... go back to their solo work, then when one of them gets an idea for a new album they'll do it... that's what i think but i don't really know...

i can't see either Gackt or Yoshiki wanting to be tied down with being in an exclusive band again...

Can i just butt into the conversation and say that i think furan's right about them not actually being a band, but more like a project...mainly because of the ego problem, and also because none of them are really used to being in bands anymore, are they?

But then again, if it's only a project, i've got serious doubt about it working...because without the commitment that being in a band demands, there's going to be a lot of problems. Personally, i don't have high hopes for this mega band. But that's mainly because i can't stand Gackt XDD

Actually think it is a project~ because if Miyavi IS in the project, band, whatever you want to call it~ he did say he was going to continue his solo work along with whatever happened with the band (it's given that HE IS joining a band just no one knows what band...)....

And I hardly thought they would stop their solo projects I mean, Gackt is in a drama, so he's contracted to finish that and considering the type of people they are I doubt any of them would remain idle while Gackt is doing whatever he has to do.

And the ego problem... they're all AWARE that they have "strong personalities", so I don't think they would let that get in their way of making music. Besides when you have disagreements you can always work on that! :-)

But it's true this type of project, a band, it demands a lot of commitment and everyone has to do their part, and of course it can't be without problems but I don't think that means it's hopeless. I think any problem can be solved so long as your willing to take the time to work on it. And with type of people they seem to be I don't think they'll let problems get in their way without at least ATTEMPTING to work it out.

And well, I'd say we have to wait and see. I don't think we can judge before we see how it end up~

ooooooo, i didn't know that about Miyavi.. this is gunna be interesting!!!!

but... actually i LOVH the fact they all hav e such big egos... it's gunna make it interesting to follow if anything XDDD

but i agree with what you're saying, however, wandering.legy:
you make a good point, but i'mma have to disagree...
if anything making it a project makes it a lot easier to have a clear picture...
they don't have to worry about the future, just what they're doing now, because they know that they will still have a corear afterwords...
also i don't think any of them are worring about money issues...
which means all they have to think about is the music and such.
i mean, i suppose they do have to worry about the over seas responce as well, but... yeah, i think you get my point... even if i explain in in a very round about sort of way ^^;

Yes~ there egos are definitly going to make things amusing :D

And I really don't think money would be an issue either 😌 though it's true they'll have to think about overseas response if they want to be as big as they seem to aspire to be... mind you given WHO they are, they'll have fans based solely on the fact that they were liked before this band/project was even started 😌

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not in terms of the music quality though... I mean how can you judge how good you really are if you have fangirls who only like you for what you did before?^^; Then again I'm sure there are sincere fans to who'll actually look at the quality of the work they produced before deciding to like it~ And then if they become as big as they believe they will be~ then a lot of people are going to start liking Jrock...

I wonder is that such a good thing though? I kind of like the fact that's not TOO well known... :p

i see you're point... but i think these guys know they have fans over seas... but the whole point of this priject is to show to those people who don't particually have an interest in anime/manga/japan that Japan makes good music...

but i know about your debate about the whole 'jrock becoming popular'
... i think we had a debate about it on here a while back...
it is nice that there's only a selected few who listen to it... and then there's a selected few of them who actually just listen and don't bother with the whole 'fan girl' thing ^^;
... but... i don't think it will be quite a trasaction as one might think....

.... the biggest thing people critisize me for listening to Jrock is that it's in Japanese... and 'i can't understand Japanese' apparently...
Yoshiki's more than likely to write lyrics in English... and though Gack's Enlgish pronounciation is... um... not that great lets face it... at least it's still in English...
so i think bands like FAKE? and Akeboshi and stuff like that that generally sing in English

Well, I hope those people will see the point they are trying to make :-)

Uhm~ well, I just hope people will appreciate the quality of the work they produce~ I mean, yes I'm a fangirl... but I became one because I liked the music. It's not that I see anything wrong with people deciding to check a band out based on what they look but you shouldn't like them only because of that either.... :p

And... most people critize me for liking Jrock bands because they look like girls :eek: I mean yes Visual Kei bands use elaborate costumes and yes they LOOK like girls sometimes, but looking like girls isn't the point of Vk... and they don't seem to understand that~ I mean to me Vk is an art~ it's pushing elegance, grotesque, beauty to the extreme~ and it's not JUST about appearences despite the fact that apearence IS definitly a part of it~ I find that Vks use their appearence to put more impact on what they have to say and it makes me sad that people don't understand that....

And of course~ the fact that they're not speaking english is always a subject... and I don't really understand WHY~ if you really want to understand what they're saying there are translations~ you can look them up. To me, it's not ALL that important to actually understand what they are saying (though if I REALLY like a song I'll go and find out...) it's more the feeling and the intensity of the song that I listen for. So when people say they dislike a song because they dont understand it~ that kind of irks me too:eek:
Sorry for rambling so much.... Ijust had to get it out of system...:p

o god no there's nothign wrong with being a fangirl XD
but yeah, some do anyoy me because it's clear that they're faily biased towards bands abilities because of their appearence...

to... to be fair, that's what a band is these days... it ISN'T just about the music. it's about the people in the band, the way they look, act, dress... all these things....

what you're saying about VK is entierly true.
like the metal look that inspired it, it's not about the appearence persay, more the statement your trying to get across.
and actually i have a LOVe ot love for VKers because of the amount of diversity and design that goes into them. i mean, i'm a graphics student, so i'm bound to see things like that but... i mean you just have to look at like... 5 different Miyavi photoshoots to see that these people don't do things halfassed... when they design something they go all out!

pretty much every album released has a graphical identity, nevermind just a 'constume'

... sorry, rambling ^^; i've just been doing my graphics homework ^^;

see... the thing is, for some people, music is all about the lyrics.
punk has never been about musical talent, more angree people who hate the goverment (exagerating, but you knwo what i mean)
clasical music, however, has never been about the lyrics... not even operas... it's all about the feelings that are envoked by the actuall score... and people these days tend not to appreciate that, or at least they don't realise they are... which is really sad.
i listen to music in millions of different languages... hell, i have the DISNEY soundtracks in over 19 different languages! i love to see how different singers interprit the same piece ^^;
LOL, funny, i'm talking about the 2 things that i'm so used to being so analytical in ^^;
i've been in several clasical choirs for over 4 years now so... 😌

but actually... i don't care about the lyrics so much that often i listen to english musc that has genuinly appauling lyrics... but the music's just great i don't care XD

lol.. i think it's ok to ramble in this thread... otherwise a few of us are introuble ^^;

I have nothing against fangirls... as I said before... I AM one myself, I have to admit it... but I really do appreciate the efforts that the bands I like, put into creating their music, into create their "costumes", into creating their sound, and I find it ashame when people are so blinded by appearences that they fail to see the rest.

It's really kind of sad that people are now only LOOKING at bands and not LISTENING to them... I mean of course it's nice that bands are visually appealing... I'm in media studies, I do things like animation, film making, radio whatever, I understand that visual appeal is important when you want to make viewers appreciate what you're creating but, I would like for people to appreciate the subtility of what they're creating...

And it's for sure they don't make a half-assed job of making their outfits~ each is always so unique and elaborate it's really art to me. And that's what I like they really give it their all to make something that everyone can enjoy.

I suppose it's just that everyone has a different way of enjoying things, and different tastes so... of course not everyone's going to like the same thing... but I hate it how people just because it doen't appeal to them say it's bad. Way to judge something without trying it!

I see nothing wrong with enjoying Disney music I listen to the Nightmare Before Christmas Sondtrack every now and then~ and I really enjoy it~ It shouldn't matter what kind of music it is, or what it's porpose is, so long as it's something you can sincerely enjoy.

And I don't find it bad to be analytical about things, if you know the mechanics of how something works, the amount of work it takes to make it. And if you can distigusih what makes a good piece of music and what makes a bad piece of music, then you can actually appreciate the good ones even more... at least I think... :p

Classical choir? wow that's pretty impressive!

So long as it's good music... who cares WHAT they're saying? I guess that's the case sometimes....

But it's also nice for the lyrics to have some kind of meaning, some kind of feeling behind them too. Nice lyrics, bad lyrics in the end it's not the most important.... but it's nice to find lyrics that reach out for you, even if you don't necessairly connect with them.

Is it me or have our posts been getting longer..... 😌

XDDDD
i think they're incresingly longer as you go down the page XDDD
and... well i guess this is the **** chat board, and we are vaguly on topic, so it shouldn't matter too much! XD

i comPLETEly agree with everything you just said!
i'm sorry to have to to this but i'mma have to ramble about Kagrra, for a bit.
they're a band with a truely unique appearence whithin Jrock, i mean, they came up with Neo Japaesque(sp?) but lately they've been going... none visual.
now, here's the thing. this band is clearly talened. the bassist playes a 6 string and some of the most complicated bass lines you've ever heared. the lead guitarist plays a 7 string and was writing most of the music for the band at 19, the second guitarist is a frikin genious child who can play basically any instrument you put infront of him, and even plays the Koto in a lot of the songs...
their music lately has been cosistantly improving composure wise, yet... all the fans can do is complain about their 'lack of visual-ness'... it's like... err.... why d'you like this band again?
and the whole thing with Diru fans... it seems to me it all started because they whent less visual and wanted to appeal to a western audience more... they're still making music like they did before...
i mean, ok, so it's music more like pink killer and obscurity and you don't get stuff like dead tree and cage anymore, but it's still the same band...

i mean, i won't get into that too much cos i dont' really know all the facts or anything, but it seems to me like it's along the lines of what we're talking about ^^;

actualy, the other thing i like about all the disney songs in different languages is that i get to hear other languages other than english...
i really like how other languages sound, but unfortunatly i find it really difficult to grasp actual language... possibly because i'[m dyslexic, but i don't really know.
i dunno if you're french canadian or just regular canadian, but... i was brought up in an completely english speekign environment... the closet thing i came to to another language was gordie! XD
so i really love to listen to things in different languages because it's a compeltely different way of expressing. and not knowing the actual meaning of the words lets you explore your own meanings.
actually it's because oif this i'm actually reluctant to read a lot of translations ^^;
although ocationally i'm right and then i'm propper chuffed XD

but i do like a song with good lyrics...
i think actually i love concept more than anything... like, i write lyrics too, but i liketo think of a concept beforehand... and actually Jrock strikes me as pretty inventive when it comes to this... so... i love to get inspiration, whether for my own lyrics, or my art or deisgns or... whatever XD

but i love poetic lyrics that aren't just 'blah' and that's it... i heavely got into the poetry analysing i did for my english GCSE so... yeah, i like metaphores and crap ^^;

I find it sad too when people stop liking a band mearly because they aren't doing visual kei anymore~ I mean YES Vk is awesome` I really adore it BUT if a band decides that's no longer what's needed to make their music say what they want then the fans should respect that~

I hate the way some fans can't respect the decisions that bands make for themselves... I mean I think the fans don't understand that it's not totally for them that they are creating their music... Yes, of course being in the media, in music or acting it's largely a fan~audience centered industry however what fans seem to forget it's also an ART~ and it's used to express what the ARTISTS want to express. In the end it's not ABOUT what the fans want but about what the artist chooses to show.

Of course that's not exactly how it works... and artists are always influenced by what others want~ But I see art as being something that should be selfish~ it shouldn't be about others~ I think people should decide either to like what the artist choose to create and appreciate that it was created or else move on to something else that appeals to what they're looking for.

I hate how people expect artist to change their style to appease their fans... and I hate artist who make the changes to appeal to fans~ Yes, of course if you want to make a living out of art it has to have some appeal... but in the end if it's not really the way you want it... if you're expressing something you don't really believe ... then what was the piont in the first place right?

I got into the whole Jrock thing pretty lately so some bands that I discovered though they HAD been visual Kei no longer doing visual kei (Diru being a fine example of that... :p) , and I find it a shame that some people decide to dislike those bands simply because of that. I mean~ If they decide that they no longer need to use the VISUAL aspect of their band to make a statement that means they're reling even more on their voice, on their MUSIC to do the talking. I mean yes in Visual Kei the music is supposed to do their talking also~ but the VISUAL aspect of it all is equally important... or it wouldn't be called VISUAL kei~ :p

And it seems a shame that some fans decide that a band is no longer worth their time because they aren't doing the exact same thing any more.... But I guess, those kinds of fans aren't really needed in the end... because then it will be the people that just sincerely enjoy ALL the aspects of the band that are left~ And I think if I were an artist I'd rather have a few sincere fans then a boat load who don't really understand what it is I'm trying to do...

I'm french canadian~ but I've always gone to english schools so I was always surround by at least two different languages~ But that doesn't matter to me~

I've always liked that! Hearing how different the languages are~ and I've met quite a few exchange students so it's fun to hear them speaking in their languages~I actually really like foreign languages~

I'm currently ATTEMPTING to learn German (in school...) and Japanese (that's harder because I just have my books...) I like that they all sounds so different that they look so different(when written)~ I find it amazing to see the different ways people have to expresse the same things~

And I have to say I agree not knowing what the lyrics mean~ or only understanding one or two words~ From that it's nice to make up your own meaning~ To have your own feel for that song~ I think it ends up making it even more "your song" that way~ I mean some people like songs because they can relate to what they're saying but if all you know of the song is the title then it can have a more personal feeling because~ you're the only one who's given the song the meaning you choose to give it~

I do write poerty~ but it's largely based on feelings and intuitionmore then anything else~ I don't really think of anything at all~ My writing is a lot closer to a stream of consiousness~ or I'll just be thinking of something random and I'll have a title and I just start writing from there~

And I like when I'm reading something I like it when it's really OLD or really NEW~

In the sense that I like it when it's in really old english or french or whatever even if I don't understand all the metaphors or all the language I like that~ And as for the NEW things I really mean things based on the probable and twisted future~ where humans have basically ruined, or destroyed themselves~ I like that darker side that people sometimes portray! Of course it truely terrfies me that things like that COULD be possible~ but It's seems interesting to explore those kinds of things~

*sigh* i hear what you're saying.

i mean, i did the whole 'non conformist' type thing, and i used to really take notice of what a band did and how they acted, like, i completely despised Avril Lavign because she is simply one big joke. (or at least that's what i thought at the time). and i'd hate bands who became 'sell outs'

however, the way i see it is there are 3 types of musicians:
comercial ones where everything they do is basically to build up a fan base
artistic ones, where they just do what they want and hope other people will like it
and then the ones that have a spacific aim, like this project does, where they whant to reach a spacific audience and create something new.

from time to time the artists get talent spotted, and they catch a break, but it nearly always comes with the price that thy have to sell out to some exstent. no-one will fund somethign unless they can garantee it's success... which is a shame because there are some really great bands out there who just aren't noticed because they don't have the right representation.

the funny think about J music, though... is that VK isn't actually very big in Japan at all...
you look at the Jmusic interent fanbass, and nearly all of it is visual to some exsent. but when i whent to Japan i spoke to some people... no-one knew who Dir en Grey were, a few people knew Kagrra, and most people knew who Miyavi was but i don't think i met anyone who liked his music...
to be fair i didn't talk to anyone who was properly into rock, but one girl knew Janne de Arc....
basically i got the sence that none visual bands were a lot more popular over there, like how we used to be with pop and rock, only rock's becomeint more 'the thing' these days... or at least it is here...

wait... lol i'm losing track of my point ^^;
umm... o yeah, i think i was trying to get to the point that there are different sorts of levels of apreciation (though i don't quite think 'level' is the right word, that implies one is better than the other)
like... there are poeple who like what they think they're supposed to like
there are people who like who everyone else likes,
and there are people who like what they like.

i used to be one of those 'likes what they're supposed to like' and would always deny the fact that i likes any pop at all and any 'rock' bands that were really popular were just silly....
but i realised at 15 that that was just stupid... but i still didn't quite get the whole 'let lose' thing...
actually Jrock really opened my eyes a bit more, because these bands don't stick to 1 genre...
panic channel for example.. hard rock, soft ballads, techno pop... you got a faily decent mix in there...
and you get people who are down right obsessed with Dir en Grey, closely followed by bands like Arashi and Ayumi Hamasaki...
... i dunno whether the reason for this is simply because people start out thinking 'that's japanese, therefore i love it' but... it does opens ones eyes a bit i'd say...

i love the entier concept of languages... i thinkit's silly to try and make everyone learn english because it is one of the most boring languages...
and so rediculous... it makes no sece at all what so ever >.<
but... actually going back to the disney songs, what they reminded me was that... even within languages you get different ways of using it.
like... there's a different version for both French and French Canadia, Spannish and LA Spannish... it's really strange, but the words are different!
i suppose England has that one thing going for them, that there are different dialects, like Gordie... but... i do think bigotry as far as languages go is just so stupid... and england/english speeking countries are often the very worst for it >.<

what you say about poetry's really interesting!
i like things like that too...
old english was a lot nicer than modern day... it's so confusing because people use words for different things, and words like 'gay' have come to mean so many different things now (sorry, firts word that poped into my head ^^; )

the think i LIKE about Japanese though... is that even though one word has a lot of meanings and it is fairly easy for one to missunderstand someone (especially if their not native), it leaves so much room for interpritation.
each word has a prounouciation, which in turn has a meaning, but it also has a kanji, which also has it's own meaning. they can be taken separetly, or applied together to come up with your own meaning... it's like art in it's self.. but at the same time very calculated art.
lol, actually for some reason Japanese reminds me of maths... which is perhaps why i like it so much ^^;

Maybe I am a little childish :p But I guess because art is really important to me~ And I hate the thought that it could become anything less then that~ >__<

I listen to anything provide I like the sound I hear~ Weather some people would consider it sell out or not~ I'm not that picky about music~ I just find it a shame that, sometimes that's what's necessairy to do to succeed.

And I can see what you mean... to have some kind of success you do have to appeal to a largely commercial society~ I never really hated Avirl Lavigne... Some of her music actually appealed to me... but after a while I didn't care much for her anymore... :p The thing about American/English music is that while I like it.... I listen to it VERY rarely~ It really appeals very little to me~ especially all that R&B and Rap Music that plays all the time~

And it's not even that I dislike the singers~ but all they seem to be singing is the exact same thing to a different tune and even then I don't find the beats appealing~ I mean I understand that to commercial artists have to do things that will appeal to the crowds but.... how many songs do we REALLY need on subects like promiscuity and killing people for money~ Really I'm tired of that~ I mean I wish the crowds taste would evolve just so people would choose to show things that have better quality~

And I might seem biased~ maybe I am a little :p ~ because my friends like this kind of music I have to listen to it fairly often~

I guess I can see what you mean by different "levels" of appreciation~ Everyone's different so no one can be expected to have the same taste and of course~ That's what makes music, reading, ART so interesting (sorry if I seem to be going over to the topic of ART so much... but as I mentioned... art does mean a lot to me... :p) I like that you can find something that will cater to every mood and taste~ Diversity is very important to me and so it's not so much that I'm 'non conformist' as I'd like everyone to be diverse...

That's really what scares me the most of those books on the future that everyone will ends up being manipulated and controlled into becoming the same things~ of wanting the same things~

Of course to work as a team you have to have similar goals~ and as humans we should have similar goals~ but that everyone has differemnt thoughts likes and dislikes~ that's really important!

I think I was like that too~ I used to listen to what other people said~ If they mentioned they didn't like something I decided I didn't like it either... or at least I thought I didn't.... But when I started getting into Japanese things... well I didn't really know ANYONE who liked those things but I decided this is really interesting so when people started to make fun of it~ I still liked it and it didn't matter to anymore if people liked what I like or not~ So I guess in a sense it was really an eye opener to start liking these kinds of things~!

And it's true J rock bands don;t really seem to stick to exactly one type of musical style~ they'll have hard or soft depending on the song and that's really nice~ It shows I find how they'll look at the songs individually to create them~ :-)

To me writing, music is always about feeling~ because even if you don't have something specific to say, when it's done and you show it to other people~ it will mean, it will say something to THEM~ And I guess that's why I like those kinds of thing so much because they call out to me~ They "say" something to me so to speak....

I agree I really like the old litterarture! Dante's Devine Comedy, John Milton's Paradis Lost, anything by Oscar Wilde... though I don't understand all the subtilities of it because those things were created in societies that are SO different, from what we are now, I find it very interesting to read.And it's really fascinating to see how words and thoughts evolve! I mean to know how and what past generations believed and thought~ To see how the things we have were first created~

All those old supertions people believed so sincerely~ it's really fascinating to know about it all~ It's really like an insight to another world~

I mean it's all people and people are probably the most fascinating things on this planet so when I read, when I see old paintings~ Though I don't always understand the thought behind it I still really enjoy it because it shows me how we were~ Modern art doesn't fascinate me nearly as much because it's current :p

I'll admit I like Japanese because I like the way it SOUNDS~ Just hearing people speaking in that language even though I can't understand it.... I really like it... But I'll admit the subtilty of that language... it's ambiguity (?) is also equally beautiful~ I like things whose meanings are a bit mysterious or that mean seem to mean something else once you've seen it a second time... That's why, I think I would really like to be able to read Gackt's lyrics in Japanese~ Because from what I read about it he doesn't use normal kanji for words~ He'll use uncommon terms that in he end MEAN the samething but will make the whole word have a different meaning simply because of that Kanji~

I can see how you could consider Kanji~ Japanese writing an art~ I find that the whose language with it's levels of polietness and all it's subtilities really... poetic (I'm not sure if that's the way.. I should phrase it... but that seems the most appropriate word...)

Yes, I can see it as something calculated~ it's a very controlled language, but it's so beautiful~ I don't think I could ever quite consider it math~ because I find math is something very ridgid and doesn't really leave the room for things to change or flow.... at least not like the Japanese language seems.... (and I have to admit... I don't like math much myself....)

WAW that one took me a while to read ^^;
but hey, at least i'm reading!
i find what yuou have to say very interesting so... that's good at least ^^;
actually i had to stick it in a word document... you know it's over 1000 words! XD

music is TOTTLAY an art, and don't worry, it's a really important to me too ^^;
i never really liked what peopel told me to like... more what i thought i should like...
the whole deal with Avril Lavign was that i LIKED her music... that was untill i saw her. she was completely trying to pass herself off as something she wasn't. i never had a problem with her music, it was her i had the problem with... and unfortunatly i used to get opinions like that a lot when i was younger... only i'd take them to extreem and now, even though i don't really care anymore i still have those feelings connected to those things so... i can't enjoy them ^^;

i used to listen to so much japanese music. it was all i ever spoke about. but then i whent to an english band gig and realised that...actually the west does make good music, i just forgot about it XD
i listen to everything now, infact, i challenge you to find a genre of music i don't like...
the only thing that get's to me is >some< R&B and rap... i like the stuff that actually involves something done with the backing and a chorous that works well with harmonies and such... i really can't stand stuff that writes a jingle efectively, and then repeats it over and over again.... >.<

but... i suppose i kind of understand what you're saying about the topic... but then again... how much diversity is there amongst other generes?
i mean... prettyy much songs are about love... it's kinda refreshing to get stuff that... you know, isn't about love of self pitty...

but music is very much about expressing a certain feeling or emotion.
all the greats (mozart, vivaldi, hyden ect.) would always start with an emotion... but i'd like to think they all had a story in their minds too...
it's difficult to translate that into words... which i think is a great thing about some lyrics... because they managedg to find a way to put a whoel story into a few verses and a chorase... with the music doing the rest...
though... i don't thinkit's very posible analys populare music like clasical ^^;

but i do agree. it's good to have similar goals... i think parliment here are slowly starting to see that... what with there nolonger being any difference between labor and the tories anymore >.<
but everyone having the same opinions, the same feelings about the same things? that woudl be terrible... that's why all these scene kids and chavs and stuff really annoy me...
i always said i didn't really care what my sister woar, as long as it was what SHE wanted to wear... cos... basically she's gone through her life following the trends... >.<

hee hee, it sounds as though you're really into your reading! i only wish i could understnad language that well, or see enough into it... but language is somethign i've always strugled with... or rather, expressing myself. i always find it difficult to say exactly what i want to say... which i used to try and tackle when i wronte poerty... but it still eneded up being something that i never felt was really me...
but when i read lyrics like planiterium by plastic tree, or other songs, it shocks me how some people can explain my emotions exactly to the point... yet i wonder if they feel the same as i do about my lyrics, about their own ^^;

Japanese has a great sound... i love that every word can be broken up into clear sylables, and everything has the same sound, it makes things so much easier...
i think what i menat about maths though was that there are many ways to go about translating something, but in the end you come up with more or less the same result... except it's through those different ways that you understand it better...

actually reading books about the history of Chinese is really interesting! all the symbols originally came from drawings, much like hyrogliphics, except a lot simpler ^^;
and over the years they evolved into more structured forms... but it's really interesting to learn, and actually helps you to recognise the simbols and their meanings...
ofcause there are over 1000 different's Chinese simbols and only about 500 kanji... but they all came from Chinese originaly... pluss you've got katakana and hirigana to make things a little more simple ^^;

i admire you for taking on the task of learning it your self!
i tried to but i just don't have the time... so i'm hoping when i go work there it'll all be a lot easier ^^;

... with the length of our posts I'm suprised we don;t have more pages on this topic... :D I will attempt to make my posts shorter.... ATTEMPT being emphasized... 😌

I hope what I say is interesting... if it was boring.... that would be bad.... Saying a whole lot of nothing... I'd be ashamed of myself if I did that... though I have to admit... most of this IS rambling.... lol~
And now I understand your comment better~ If you dislike the person who created them you disliked what they did... Uhm.. I have to admit there are some instances where I'm like that... and I guess when you're younger it makes sense if you don't like that person why should you like what they make.

People don't really think of the "art" as independant of their artist... I suppose in some ways that makes sense because art is created, it expresses something someone else wants to expresse but if you see that person and dislike the kind of person they are then it's normal that you'll think you have to dislike what they make even though if you look at it seperatly it could be of very good quality.

Using Gackt (I adore Gackt but I think some people see him this way...) some people see him as a very snobbish, "plastic", egocentric man. And because of this think his music and the things he dose are equally snobbish, or of bad quality. But nif you just take what he creats and just listen to his music, you see it's really nice. He has things to say and he has a nice way of saying them.

And that's why I was able to enjoy english music for so long, I've never paied any attention to the artists. Linkcon Park, Papa Roach, Three Doors Down whatever... I like listening to those but I couldn't point them out in a crowd and I couldn't even tell you there NAMES! The only artists who's name I know are solo artist because they use their own names or stage names.... and even then I don't know that many. And it's the same with most actors too. I just know them based on who they were in the movie~ Yes I know SOME actors by name.... but there names everyone know and knowing the names doesn't nesecairly tell you what they look like.

But that's because I never believed the artist was that important in the process of enjoying the music. It's the end product I was interested in not the process.

It's really with Jrock that that changed,of course I'll still listen to music even if I don't like WHO sings it, but I can tell you who the members of Diru are, I know X Japan members and I actually really admire all kinds of Drummers that I know by name. (Espcially Kami.... 😆 ) I don't know why Jrock made me more interested in the artist. But I suppose part of it must be due to the fact that it's so elaborate and they really seem to take time to create something both THEY AND the audience will enjoy....

I know what it's like talking only about certain subjects.... pr at least always steering I always seem to manage to make conversations turn to SOMETHING about Japan... even if the people I'm with don't particularly like it... ANYTHING about Japan... 😌

But bad music... >___< Well, I'd say Paris Hilton's (I think that's her name.... but I'm not sure...) music... But I tend to find her annoying in general... But to be fair to her I HAVE listened to her music I've even WATCHED her video clip... and I just really dislike it....

And I suppse you're right... there's not that much diversity amoungst the genres~ I suppose it's that when you don't really understand it's the voice, it the music that makes it seem different rather what the words mean.... Maybe my problem with rap and things like that is that I actually understand what they're saying.... hahaha~ :p but... I suppose it can't be helped... it's just doesn't agree with me....

Popular music and classical... I don't really think you can compair~ it's really two different eras~ to VERY different ways of thinking and of course different ways of achieveing results. I think even if you gave some one from the classical era and someone that makes popular music the same theme or idea you would get something totally different simply because they won't really see it the same way.

Yes I'm really into what I read~ The written word~ is as beautiful as the spoken word~ When things are written you can see them and I think SEEING words effects how you can give something spoken a new meaning or rienforce it's meaning.

And I'll use this( Gackt again....) as my example:

The kanji says kankaku (sense, feeling) but he says kyoufu (fear, terror). I like to think of it as those thoughts that cause a big knot if your stomach...

The line she's refering to being translated as such:

"Maybe it'll be over before I know it..." those forebodings scare me

To give credit I took this from this website and it's refering to the lyrics of Emu~ for my dear :
http://www.senshigakuen.com/translations/lyrics/gackt/kaimu.htm

But back to what I was saying it really makes a difference what you say and what you write~ You can make your meaning more subtile~ And that's what I really like about Gackts lyrics~ You have to read them AND listen to what he saying at the same time to get the full meaning of he's trying to tell you~

And I don't know what I can say~ the reason I find Japanese sounds so great is that I find it's a very soft sounding when you listen to it~ I find the language itself is almost like music~:p But it's true it's nice that japanese words can be seperated in clear and defined syllables! And that those syllables are defined and not easily changed~ It makes the "alphabet" a little bit easier to remember...:p

And I have to agree with you~ seeing how the Chinese Kanji evolved~ That's really fascinating too ~ from the crude hyrogliphics to the state they are today~ It's a very big change! And to think they have to know all of them to be able to read! I'm really impressed~ The Japanese also impress me~ I mean not only do they have to learn a lot of Kanji they have their Hiragana, Katakna and of course romaji to learn. Yes Katakana and hirgana are easier in that there's a defined number of them and they always mean the same thing but if you add all those things together that's a whole lot of things to remember!

But it's a language, it's really just a culture I love so much, I don't midn the diffculties~

.... Well... I failed... I wanted to make my post shorter..... but that REALLY didn't happen....😌

Hahahaha excuse me for not reading all the posts here...they were somewhat long and I have somewhat of a headache from reading things for school.... so sorry if i'm repeating things or whatnot...

I'm really excited about this band just because Sugizo is in it. I was a big LUNA SEA fan. And of course because of Yoshiki. He's a legend. I don't like Gackt at all so no comment about him.

I would like to see how their personalities will come through in this band. They are all very talented and have so many accomplishments but sometimes putting giants together under one roof would just tear the house down.

I wonder who the other two/three members will be. Can't wait.

And they are touring in the US next year?? I will have to see this. Heheeh Im getting my credit card ready for when they announce the tour.

BTW i'm learning Hiragana and Katakana and they are just driving me nuts lol. I have down all of them down but it's still hard to read fluently.
