... with the length of our posts I'm suprised we don;t have more pages on this topic...

I will attempt to make my posts shorter.... ATTEMPT being emphasized...
I hope what I say is interesting... if it was boring.... that would be bad.... Saying a whole lot of nothing... I'd be ashamed of myself if I did that... though I have to admit... most of this IS rambling.... lol~
And now I understand your comment better~ If you dislike the person who created them you disliked what they did... Uhm.. I have to admit there are some instances where I'm like that... and I guess when you're younger it makes sense if you don't like that person why should you like what they make.
People don't really think of the "art" as independant of their artist... I suppose in some ways that makes sense because art is created, it expresses something someone else wants to expresse but if you see that person and dislike the kind of person they are then it's normal that you'll think you have to dislike what they make even though if you look at it seperatly it could be of very good quality.
Using Gackt (I adore Gackt but I think some people see him this way...) some people see him as a very snobbish, "plastic", egocentric man. And because of this think his music and the things he dose are equally snobbish, or of bad quality. But nif you just take what he creats and just listen to his music, you see it's really nice. He has things to say and he has a nice way of saying them.
And that's why I was able to enjoy english music for so long, I've never paied any attention to the artists. Linkcon Park, Papa Roach, Three Doors Down whatever... I like listening to those but I couldn't point them out in a crowd and I couldn't even tell you there NAMES! The only artists who's name I know are solo artist because they use their own names or stage names.... and even then I don't know that many. And it's the same with most actors too. I just know them based on who they were in the movie~ Yes I know SOME actors by name.... but there names everyone know and knowing the names doesn't nesecairly tell you what they look like.
But that's because I never believed the artist was that important in the process of enjoying the music. It's the end product I was interested in not the process.
It's really with Jrock that that changed,of course I'll still listen to music even if I don't like WHO sings it, but I can tell you who the members of Diru are, I know X Japan members and I actually really admire all kinds of Drummers that I know by name. (Espcially Kami....

) I don't know why Jrock made me more interested in the artist. But I suppose part of it must be due to the fact that it's so elaborate and they really seem to take time to create something both THEY AND the audience will enjoy....
I know what it's like talking only about certain subjects.... pr at least always steering I always seem to manage to make conversations turn to SOMETHING about Japan... even if the people I'm with don't particularly like it... ANYTHING about Japan...
But bad music... >___< Well, I'd say Paris Hilton's (I think that's her name.... but I'm not sure...) music... But I tend to find her annoying in general... But to be fair to her I HAVE listened to her music I've even WATCHED her video clip... and I just really dislike it....
And I suppse you're right... there's not that much diversity amoungst the genres~ I suppose it's that when you don't really understand it's the voice, it the music that makes it seem different rather what the words mean.... Maybe my problem with rap and things like that is that I actually understand what they're saying.... hahaha~

but... I suppose it can't be helped... it's just doesn't agree with me....
Popular music and classical... I don't really think you can compair~ it's really two different eras~ to VERY different ways of thinking and of course different ways of achieveing results. I think even if you gave some one from the classical era and someone that makes popular music the same theme or idea you would get something totally different simply because they won't really see it the same way.
Yes I'm really into what I read~ The written word~ is as beautiful as the spoken word~ When things are written you can see them and I think SEEING words effects how you can give something spoken a new meaning or rienforce it's meaning.
And I'll use this( Gackt again....) as my example:
The kanji says kankaku (sense, feeling) but he says kyoufu (fear, terror). I like to think of it as those thoughts that cause a big knot if your stomach...
The line she's refering to being translated as such:
"Maybe it'll be over before I know it..." those forebodings scare me
To give credit I took this from this website and it's refering to the lyrics of Emu~ for my dear :
http://www.senshigakuen.com/translations/lyrics/gackt/kaimu.htm
But back to what I was saying it really makes a difference what you say and what you write~ You can make your meaning more subtile~ And that's what I really like about Gackts lyrics~ You have to read them AND listen to what he saying at the same time to get the full meaning of he's trying to tell you~
And I don't know what I can say~ the reason I find Japanese sounds so great is that I find it's a very soft sounding when you listen to it~ I find the language itself is almost like music~

But it's true it's nice that japanese words can be seperated in clear and defined syllables! And that those syllables are defined and not easily changed~ It makes the "alphabet" a little bit easier to remember...
And I have to agree with you~ seeing how the Chinese Kanji evolved~ That's really fascinating too ~ from the crude hyrogliphics to the state they are today~ It's a very big change! And to think they have to know all of them to be able to read! I'm really impressed~ The Japanese also impress me~ I mean not only do they have to learn a lot of Kanji they have their Hiragana, Katakna and of course romaji to learn. Yes Katakana and hirgana are easier in that there's a defined number of them and they always mean the same thing but if you add all those things together that's a whole lot of things to remember!
But it's a language, it's really just a culture I love so much, I don't midn the diffculties~
.... Well... I failed... I wanted to make my post shorter..... but that REALLY didn't happen....
