Could someone please help me... i have an acoustic guitar which i believe to be 20+ /30 years old. It has a white/cream label in the soundhole with BM and then undeneath the BM is CAVALIER (this is in large capital letters) then at the bottom of the label is has MADE IN JAPAN but the writing is much smaller than the BM Cavalier writing. I have found a number on it which is presume is the serial number: 22711. The only thing i have come up with is that its a Yasuma but i can find no pictures or information on this guitar to substantiate this. Does any one know if its value or any dates? Please could one of you clever people solve this mystery for me!

Thanking you in advance
love jo:? x

thank you so much for coming back to me on this. Can i take it that the picture of the BM on ebay is actually what a BM Cavalier looks like? Could you tell me any more about this model please. How old, history, value etc? Why can i not find anything out about this? I have even looked under the Guitar Museum site but it identifies BM Cavalier but no writing and no pictures!!

I have looked at all the links you have given me which i much appreciate and have emailed the official homepage to try and find out more. The Yasuma Fan club has nothing on the BM and the writing is all foreign to me!!

how comes you know so much - do you have a yasuma?

thank you so much love jo x:?

No, I do not own a Yasuma. I just did a little research on the net after reading yout post is all. :sorry:

According to what I have read, the company no longer exists. They stopped producing acoustic guitars in the early 80s. One person on a Japanese Q&A message board says that they are being sold at Japanese Yahoo auction for 20000 - 30000 yen. It is a possibility that the model that you have was produced exclusively for the foreign market and was not at all available in Japan, which explains the lack of any mention of this model on any of the Japanese sites.

This chap from UK has posted a review of his BM Cavalier but has no info as to how old the guitar is. He does say he had bought it from a friend of his for 75 pounds.

I suppose your best bet is to wait and see if you will get any response from the official site.

Thank you so much. What a nice man (presume?) you are for helping me in my quest! I have read the article that you were talking about but his guitar is described quite different to mine? The only similarities were the circular paper label in middle? it definately does not have any initials on the scratchplate?

So my guitar friend what do you reckon? Do you think i have anything of value or is that "jewel in the crown" still another guitar away!!??

Thank you so much for being kind and coming back to me a decent bit of information - ive contacted vintage japanese guitar people and most say they haven't even heard of it!!?? Yes you are right, i will have to wait for the official sites response.

so are you at least going to tell me what guitar(s) you have or play?! My baby is a gibson hummingbird 1967 - nothing else compares! I love guitars and could purchase new ones every week if i had the money! Old or new i love them all the same! They all have a story to tell. My husband thinks im mad when it comes to guitars - i bore him senseless! i Have to keep hiding any new purchases - although theres only so many that fit under your bed! I also have 3 signature guitars, 4 including my daisy rock (complete with signature from lady founder of the company. I love the kasabians latest album and all of a sudden i went from joni mitchell to rock chick overnight (hence the daisy rock ((picture white lightening, catch my drift!!)). Also got epiphone texan 75, gypsy jazz, an electric columbus, regal resonator, couple of banjos,..... oh and did i mention i have a Yasuma BM Cavalier!!!

You are now going to come back and tell me you play the flute now aren't you!!??

once again, thank you my friend for all your help. i will keep you posted of any replies i get regarding this. love jo xx🕺😌

No, I do not play the guitar... I would LOVE to learn to play it, though. The only instrument I play these days is this tiny Casio keyboard (it's really just a toy).

Anyway, good luck on your quest and keep us posted of any developments! I will keep my eyes open for any info, too.
