Writing Chinese on the computer

I always was wondering how the Chinese can type on their computer. (obviously they can't have a keyboard with chinese characters - boy, that would be HUGE)
Is there some kind of programm to write chinese characters? I mean really fast, not just one word in twenty seconds.

^_^ no ,no ~ in fact ,we type much faster, about 60 characters per minute for me . and some people more faster ,more than 100 characters per minute. and can record the speech.
you may wonder how it can type so fast!

The same way Japanese type, but they use a different IME.In Windows XP you can install the language bar with the desired language.When you type in pinyin 'ex. ni' you get a list with the hanzi you can select from. ;-)

I'd like to recommend you Microsoft Pinyin 2003,most of young guys' favorite.

I use NJStar, but MS Pinyin will do - but these are based on Pinyin: the Chinese romanization. (For those of you unfamiliar with it, it's what Chinese is to, as Japanese is to roomaji.) There are other numerous Chinese input methods available, like Wubi, Cangjie and so on.

There is the NJstar, as mentioned before, also, the Wubi method (but thats abit harder, and you need to know the order of strokes
Also, some keyboards have ㄅㄆㄇㄈ on then, which can be used to type chinese if you learnt it (like me, lol)

OR, you can just get a tablet (those touch screen thingys?) better for older people, who are not very computer litterate, it's easy to set up, and alot of the instructions are in chinese, if they are needed.
You can get them from around $30? (AU) or cheaper... mine was wireless.
(I do not recommend getting a wireless tablet though.)
