Hello,

I am from India and I would be interested in starting a small IT company in Japan. (Currently, I own a Web Development/Technical Support outsourcing company in India). However, I have some doubts before proceeding with it.

1) What about the Linux based administration jobs in Japan? Is it a highly paid one?
2) Does learning Japanese is a must before reaching there? Or is it easy to learn Japanese?
3) What would be the average monthly expense (in USD) to live in a small town near Tokyo?

Please share your thoughts. :)

Learning Japanese takes time but can be easy at first. Basic Japanese is quite simple compared to English or european languages.

Advanced Japanese is difficult but not impossible. If you are committed and have a good resource base to work with and time to practise then go for it.

How are you going to deal with accountants and lawyers without decent Japanese skills?

Average monthly living expense depends on your lifestyle and choice of location, of course. Figure subsistence wage around 180,000 yen/month as a rough estimate.
Rent 80,000 (one person, NOT near center of the city)
Utilities 20,000
Phone (with Internet) 5000
Food 30,000
Insurance ?
Local transportation 20,000
Other things depend on you
