Women in Yakuza

I'm working in a game development team and I've been assigned the task of writing the script for the cutscenes. One of the characters in the game is supposedly a female Yakuza assassin, but my research indicates that Yakuza don't accept women as members.

Has this changed in modern Yakuza? If not, is there any other criminal group/subculture that does accept female members?

The gokudou still does not accept women as members, but women can sort of marry into it. Apparently the wives of bosses are quite powerful.

Not really, the guy who was working on this stuff before they assigned it to me has done a pretty good job of finding the most stereotypical cliche and slapping it on each character... :frown: I would've gladly changed most of the characters, but we've got a deadline to meet here. :banghead:
