which place is better?

Couldn't tell you. I can't read Japanese. But the place in Akihabara looks the nicest to me.
 
In Takadanobaba, there are much fast food shop and restaurants which are designed for students because Waseda University is near.
It is convenient to play in Shinjuku and the Shibuya area.
Matters that require attention,
Okubo neighborhood had better not go at night.
 
Hiroyuki's right about Takadanobaba. I spent a semester at Waseda and most of our nights were based out of this station, whether it's somewhere along the Yamanote line (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro) or not. There's a number of bars and entertainment around Baba as well. I'd recommend it, but I'm biased.
 
I'm also biased towards 'baba, since I live around there now. It's probably not the best place to hang out all the time, and isn't much for shopping, but it's a nice base of operations, located between ikebukuro and shinjuku, with easy access to all the other major stops on the yamanote.
 
I recommend the one in takadanobaba as well. It is a good location to start from. I'm curious though, what is with Okubo at night and what goes on there? I never really saw anything.
 
Okubo is known as "korean town." I've never been there, so I know next to nothing about it though. Maybe it's like kabukicho at night? hmm
 
It isn't, and Shinokubo I believe is the main center of the korean town. I have been there and I didn't see anything that might be a problem. I also went to the Shinjuku sports center every week which is in the Okubo campus that you can take the bus too. Of course, as you know as well, there seems to be streets that you cross that can instantly change a good area into trouble in Japan if you are careless. Especially at night...
 
There is love hotel-cho in the Kabukicho, Shinjuku area from Okubo station.
In old days,A foreign prostitute stood in great numbers on the street of here.
The police go around this neighborhood frequently at night.
If a young woman walked here in the night, she is hailed by all means by a police officer, and it is questioned.
I think that probability to encounter a crime here is smaller than probability to encounter a traffic accident.
In Okubo and Takadanobaba neighborhood,
Because there was an interesting shop, I went out to play by bicycle frequently from Nakano at the night.

By the way,
I consider a place of a monthly apartment of Ikebukuro to be a problem.
I did not go to Ikebukuro very much,
In old days,The west exit area of Ikebukuro station thinks that there were mini-gangs.

Whoa~ all the place is expensive. (if you're staying long term lol) Shinokubo and okubo is that bad? ._. my new school is over there.

Well its actually depends to the person preferences i guess, but mine is the akihabara one. Just because they are in Akihabara and have a rotenburo~ goodness. those spa and rotenburo *drool* pretty~ and free~ and all the other place is just a few hundred yen away
 
seems like many of you recommend takadanobaba... but the problem is .. when i see the map for this place.. seems like the surrounding have nothing much...
Is Ikeburoku good place?
the one in akihabara looks best but they never reply me and i've sent them several emails..
btw... where is okubo??? i wanna go to the Korean town in there too~~~ would be interesting~~

That would be worth seeing for a while. I spent a few nights in Kabuki-cho having some good wholesome fun until last train. Spent a pretty penny and had many a beer.

The area around Baba isn't particularly known for its historical significance or amazing scenery, but it's convenient and cheap, two of my favorite words. You'll find karaoke, bars, game centers, pool halls, bowling alleys, and restaurants on top of restaurants on top of restaurants. It won't be the most glamorous home station, but it's a nice launch pad for the rest of your trip.
 
I'll admit there isn't much for scenery (pretty much anywhere in Tokyo... depending on what you consider scenery), but there's quite a bit of history at 'baba!
 
baba is just short for Takadanobaba
 
My vote is also for Takadanobaba. It's located midway between Ikebukuro and Shinjuku on the Yamanote Line. It is outstanding in convenience and access and much quieter despite the proximity to such large commercial districts.

actually i was tinking of Ikebukuro and baba... Ikebukuro seems like have more things to shop in ... i wonder how is it like during the night time?? are there anything to shop in baba area?
actually i'll be staying there for just few nights and will be touring around tokyo.. so just wanna make use of the time and find the right area to stay...
The Akibahara one.. i love it alot... but i email them ... they never reply me and as we have 3 person going together.. what they provide will be 1 bed and 2 others have to sleep on the floor... should i get 3 beds in other places instead?

If you want to shop near where you stay, Ikebukuro is a better choice by far. Sunshine City and the area around it is pretty much nothing but shops.
 
can i say that baba area have more resturants n pubs etc.. that will open until like wee hours (3am at night) and maybe in Ikebukuro ... it will be quiet after 10pm because this area have only shops ???
 
akihabara is the place that sells electronics stuffs rite? anything else to shop in there?
 
Akihabara is known for electrical/digital goods, but that's not all. It has its shops, restaurants, residential areas, etc.,

Don't think that one place is exclusive this and another place exclusively that. To give you a general idea of each place:

Ikebukuro and Shinjuku have EVERYTHING, shops, restaurants, movie theaters, pubs, residential areas--you name it.

Takadanobaba has everything, too, but less shopping area--therefore quieter.

Akihabara also has everything, but more electrical appliance shops than any other parts of Tokyo--that's all.

I'm unfamiliar with Japan hotels and how they do things but I guess maybe you can ask for an extra futon but they dont have a picture or anything I have no idea how the room looks like. Or maybe you can go for separate rooms for all 3 of you, or 2 same room and 1 different. Tho if you want same room for all 3 person then takadanobaba one is a good choice.
Anyway for 3 person, they stated it that you need to call them.
 
thanks for the info epi and rio .... hmmm i guess maybe i should give up on akibahara.... we would like to share the room together if not 1 of us will feel left out... maybe can just go to Akibahara for shopping in the day for electronics stuffs
Are there any road side ramen carts in anywhere ?? i'm tinking of trying out those too
 
OH~ I totally forgot about those carts. Never seen them around here tho. But I havent had the chance to go out and play that much. Anyone knows where can we find those?
