I have asked many of my Japanese students this question but I wanted to find out what you think. I have been to Tokyo Disneyland twice and thought it was a lot of fun both times. Unfortunately, though, I've never been to Disney Sea. I know your answer will probably be based on the experience you had there; it can depend heavily on the people you go with, weather, etc.
But based on what the parks offer, which do you think is better? Often adult students I talk to like Disney Sea because you can drink beer there while the younger crowd likes Tokyo Disney Land for the attractions. What's your take on it? Which is better Tokyo Disney Land or Tokyo Disney Sea? Why?

Disney Sea is better because it's indeed more adult-oriented. Less kinda cutesy fantasy type rides, more like, rides from live-action movies and thrill rides. Tower of Terror for example, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Indiana Jones, they're all at Sea.

Plus, yes you can drink beer.

Overall it's more fun for those who are theme-park or live-action movie-oriented, while Disneyland is much more for those who enjoy the original Disney enterprise; the trademark characters, the costumes and atmosphere, animated movies, parades and shows, etc.

Some of my students go to Disney just to see fireworks, parades, characters and shows and rarely get on any of the rides.

Kanadajin,

How often do your students go to Disney Sea or Disneyland? Is it an insane amount of times, like mine? If I ask many of my female students they've been like 10 times, 15 times, and some can't even count how many. I guess having Disneyland nearby makes a world of difference.

Which place do you think is better to take a date? I hear mixed things about this one, too. For some people, seeing a giant mouse with a permanent smile plastered on his face doesn't really set the mood, but for others...they love it!

Some have yearly passes, the cost of which I cannot imagine.
I haven't asked them how many times they go regularly but I think the real Disney-heads go at least a few times a year because a few times a year Disney has a main event or changes their theme; Disney Halloween, Disney Christmas, whatever.

If your date is a traditional Japanese Disney girl I'd say go with Disneyland. Some of the rides are kinda fun and hey why the heck not, hopefully the magic of Disney will gently guide you back to the bedroom lol.

But if shes into rides, forget Disney and just go to Fuji-Q!

Fuji Q! I've never been there, but I've heard good things. That sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to try that.
