Where can I order computer parts in Japan?

Though I can't be completely sure why, my computer is acting really screwy and I think it might mean my power supply is on its way to the big junkyard in the sky. I live in the countryside, about 2 hours from any computer store, so I would like to order a new power supply from the internet. Does anyone know of a good site for that? 'cause I know nothing.
 
Holy moly those things are expensive. Guess I'd better make sure the power supply is the problem before I get a new one.
 
If you want the convenience of ordering online, you might have to go with one of the bigger stores, which do a pretty good job at ripping you off. Parts stores in Akihabara give you the best value.
 
Akihabara is certainly out of the question.

I dunno if it's overpriced. I don't know how much power supplies typically cost, but gosh 12000-18000 seems like a lot.
 
Those prices are quite a bit better. Thanks, undrentide. Do you know if all of the items on that site are new items or are there used/refurbished ones among them? I want to make sure that I buy new parts for my computer.

To my knowledge, all the items on this site are new. They have a special category that shows only "used PC" and another showing "used camera".

When you find a particular item you're interested in, click the model name then you'll be forwarded to the page showing all the details.
for example:

Why is Akihabara out of the question? I would not touch any of the power supplies on the Yodobashi site, or any others available for sale in similar stores - I'd buy from a small, independant and competitive online store of which easily half are in the general Akiba area.

All the power supplies on Kakaku are new, and I would recommend something brand-name in the 500W range.

(My last power supply cost 25,000en, and some of the stuff I use at work is far, far more expensive)

Well, out of the question for me to go there and buy anything because it would cost me $150 and a day of travel to get there, and the same coming back.

All the power supplies on Kakaku are new, and I would recommend something brand-name in the 500W range.

I don't know much about power supplies. What difference does the wattage make? It looks like my current one is 300W, and it was running ok for about 2 years and however long the previous owner had this comp. Still not positive that the power supply is the problem, but could you give me a quick rundown on what the wattage thing is all about?

The power supply has to provide all the power for the various components of your computer, including CPU, hard drives, CD/DVD drives, cooling fans, video card, etc. If 300w was doing the job and you don't foresee adding components to your computer, then there should be no reason 300w won't continue to do the trick.
 
Dospara or Prime PC is an English friendly site, though it is not the cheapest. The affiliate company, Janbara, sells second hand parts
A tip to work comfortably in your office is your home computer should be worse that the one at office. You must be more frustrated if the computer at office is slower than at home.

Buying online isn't so bad. I bought myself my customized PC from a small pasokon shop in Akihabara without moving out of my chair...

Just make sure that you buy it 窶佚｣ﾋ?ｸ窶堋ｫ (COD) and you get warranty plus cooling-off period for returning the product.
 
Besides what Jimmy is looking for I would also like to say thanks for the links people are providing, I am always on the look out for decent parts and accessories.

I know the last post in this topic was about 3 years but essentially I have the same problem.

I'm looking for some computer parts shop and specifically I'm looking to buy DDR3 RAM for my PC (4GB x 2).

As I found out some of the stores listed above have closed and in the others selection among the RAM modules is quiet poor.

Are there any other retail or online stores that specialize in selling computer parts etc?

I just had to buy some power supplies at work in the US. I bought 350W Diablotek PS units for $16 each from GlobalGovEd, TigerDirect's Government and Education division. That was pretty good pricing but for a standard ATX PS I only expect to pay between $18 and $30 on any given day. The non-standard types you will pay an arm and a leg for but some of the prices on those sites for the standard ATX units were just scary. Still I am glad for this thread as when we eventually move to Japan I will need a good source for parts.
 
The last time I bought RAM for my computer I was shocked to learn I could order it from the US and have it delivered by FedEx cheaper than I could order it from Tokyo....so I did.
