Travel What to do in Morioka?

Well there is a chance I might be studying abroad for a year in Morioka, and I was wondering what there is to do. I know it doesnt have the wild nightlife of Tokyo obviously, but I'm seein if anyone can shed some light on things like bars and clubs there, and any other fun things to do. (Doesn't have to revolve around drinking, its just a plus ; )
PS. I am really interested in the more traditional aspect of Japan, as well as the modern, so anything along those lines is good too.

From Morioka to Tokyo, it is Tohoku Shinkansen and they are about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
