For certain circumstances I'm going back to my country. Right now I'm working in a Japanese company, but I'm quiting the job this month and going back to my country. I don't know if I will come back to Japan for work, but since I have a working visa until 2012 some friends tell me that I can keep the visa and the gaikokujin torokusho, and that I can come back to work in Japan until my visa expires if I have a re-entry permit. I'm afraid I coud have some trouble tough. I would like to know if there is someone that has done this, and if I can have any trouble with immigration for this. Thank you.

I'm no authority, but I guess you can do that.

However, I wonder how long the reentry permit is valid? If it is valid for just one year, you'll have to come back before it expires to keep your work visa valid.

If he has never used the reentry permit, it is still valid until 2012, but is it a single-entry permit or a multiple-entry permit?

Contact your ward office or city hall to put your local taxes on hold and to cancel your national health insurance. Others have done this.
