I can't even find the two kanji on the middle line even with radicals. Either I am using the wrong radicals or I am not looking hard enough. I just need to know know them both cause I don't know them, of course. It's from a random app I downloaded just cause it was in Japanese.

Also does it mean

"The sky that I looked up at was black

Something that was supposed to be there (?)

However, I just (only, だけ) didn't know that ??? However I just didn't know/wasn't aware of that prescence

I was merely looking at the empty (何も無い) night sky" / I was, nevertheless, only looking at the empty night sky

(do ただ and だけ work in together here to give the meaning of merely, just, only, as one would regularly do, or should I think of them seperately)?

This is just a prologue to some sort of story game so I have no Idea what it's about、I just want to know if I have gleamed as much information as one (naturally) skilled in the arts of the language would from these limited and non contextual (at the moment) lines. I'm probably gonna use it to get vocab and learn more kanji or something.
よろしくお願いします
