What is flying like in Japan for private pilots

I don't really have much information on this subject at all.I subscribe to Kit Planes Magazine and I think I remember an article that was written years ago about some of the flying clubs and show cased some of the home built aircraft.I did don see any certified aircraft in the pictures and none were mentioned in the article as far as I can remember,but as usual my memory has probably failed me once again.Well anyway,if any one could please enlighten me to what it is like,I would greatly apprieceiate.I could only imagine that the views must be breath taking.

In The Old Days .....

We used to call the taxi drivers Kamekaze's they drove so crazy; wonder what they nickname private pilots's?
