what are the three best Kyushu prefectures to visit?

Especially in April and why?

I would avoid the Mt. Aso area in April. I went last April thinking that I would be able to see the volcano but the area was in the midst of a blizzard. While it was a fun adventure, it was disappointing that I couldn't see much of anything except at the museum.

Otherwise, Kumamoto was pleasant. Nagasaki was very nice. Lots of things to see as well as in Fukuoka. The cities I visited were Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Sasebo and Fukuoka.

Thanks. Did you have any highlights of Fukuoka and Nagasaki?

My main purpose for Fukuoka was visiting Fukuoka Tower and Dome. I did roam around downtown a bit.

I visited the Peace Park in Nagasaki along with the Hypocenter Park and Museum. Very informative. I also strolled around the waterfront and some shopping areas around Nagasaki's JR station.

I was in both cities for one night each. It all amounted to a "whirlwind" tour of Kyushu.

I have photos over in the Photo Gallery. Just punch in my user name and you'll see my pictures of the places I went to.

I've been only to Kumamoto and Nagasaki. I'd say Nagasaki is a must if you are in Kyushu for the Peace Museum. People should not forget what happened.
Mt Aso in Kumamoto is cool but if the weather is usually bad as ArmandV mentioned then I think I would pass.

I hear Beppu is pretty nice.

Kagoshima is also good.
Sakurajima,Sand Onsen in Ibusuki,Yakushima Island,Kirishima Shinto shrine.
There are a lot of good sightseeing spots.
