😌 Unfortunatelyツ・ツ・ツ・ツ・It is forbidden putting a towel in a bathtub.

Damicci,

Just to add to Nagashima-san's post, you are not allowed to bring any piece of cloth or towel into the bathing area, except for the small towel you use to wash yourself (and maybe hide your private parts 😊 )

When you're soaking in the hot water, you're not supposed to immerse the towel you used to wash yourself in the water. You either leave it on a shelf or somewhere convenient in the washing area or fold it and put it on top of your head. (Based on traditional sense of sanitation, I guess.)

You see people (especially women) wrapped in towel AND immersed in the hot water in photos because they are intended to show the pleasure of onsen and not pornography. 😌
This is not done in practice. (I must also tell you that many young Japanese don't know this rule, because Japanese today bathe privately at home and are not accustomed any longer to public bathhouses and onsen.)

Since you're a guy, I'm sure you'll get used to it...(hopefully :p )

First post here

This is my first time here and I get the feeling that there are a lot of non-Japanese who post here. Am I right?

I plan on a visit to Japan in June to Shimonoseki, but I'm having trouble finding good sites about this place online. Can anyone tell me about the place?

I'll be traveling with a group to teach English, by the way. Really, really looking forward to the visit!

Hey, Pararousia! Welcom to the forum!
Nice to have you with us, especially since you can make good use of this site for your visit to Japan!
If you go to the "Where are you from" and "What is your mother tongue" you will find that only about 15% had Japanese as their mother tongue. (??)

This is the JREF top page on Shimonoseki
This is google image "Shimonoseki+sightseeig"
This google web "Shimonoseki+sightseeing+tour"

But I'm sure some members will have a more detailed and organized information on how to make the best out of your upcoming visit to Shimonoseki. 🎈

Because English cannot talk, I use translation software.
I may write wrong English, but please forgive me. 😌

Hello, Phelonius. Welcome to the forum!
I couldn't find a post to place this, so here it is.
You seem to know a lot about Japan, and I think your knowledge could benefit the forum in many ways.
I hope to see more of your posts, and I hope you enjoy your time here! 🎈

Damicci,

I don't know where the reference to 1000 yen comes from, but Nagashima-san's recommendations are all all-you-can-eat places--they're all cheap. The more expensive all-you-can-eat restaurants serve high-quality foods you see in upscale places. I'm sure he gave the list because he thought you won't find regular Japanese servings not enough for you.

He also uses translation software to post in English. I find it very humorous and endearing! 😄

I was refering to this post.
Don't get me wrong I appreciate all the efforts. I enjoy reading his translated posts 👍 but the reason why I asked were they all you can eat because i thought 10 - 30 bucks for a dinner was alot for one person.

:) FuFuFuFU-------
Please do not worry. :giggle:
Information to here is information to introduce to a general foreigner.
It is secret information and, from here, must teach nobody it. 😆
I write B grade gourmet information after this.
In addition, I write Shimonoseki information.

By the way, I do not know night Roppongi information, and night Kabukicho :joyful:

Oh, okay. I was just worried that the info didn't get across. 😌 :p

You have to realize that Japan is one of the most expensive places in the world to live (Switzerland, too?). Food prices are steep, and you need all the info on cheap restaurants you can get. I'd keep all the info Nagashima-san's posting for the trip.

Anyway, have a nice trip! Hope the cherry blossoms are in bloom when you're here! :)

B grade gourmet information

I am cheap in "Kandajinboucho", and there is a delicious shop.
"窶堋「窶堙?窶堙「(IMOYA)" has a store of a pork cutlet specialty store and a tempura specialty store and a TENDON specialty store. 👍
There is a pork cutlet specialty store in the vicinity of a crossing of an intermediate point of the road which goes from JR Suidobashi station to Jimbocho.
ツ「窶堙??堙ア窶堋ゥ窶堙や?凖ィツ食ツ」="TONKATU TEISYOKU"=A pork cutlet set meal is 700 yen

There are tempura specialty store and sky bowl specialty store in a back alley of Jimbocho direction from a pork cutlet specialty store.
There are many people when I go to a shop at noon.
I recommend that I go to a shop at past 13:00 to you.
All shops are only counters.
Attention 😊
A salesclerk does not hand a menu to you.
A menu is written towards the back top of a shop.
Please you must not order a pork cutlet in tempura shop. 😌

There is a set meal shop of Western food such as "ニ鱈ニ鍛ニ蛋ニ停?愴丹ニ停?ーニ停?? in 2, Jimbocho, Kanda.
A hamburger steak and a fried meat cake of here are delicious.
A price is cheap, too.

A method to buy cheap sushi 👍
Sushi is sold with an underground fishmonger of Broadway of Nakano
Because it is this sushi of a fish shop, sushi is delicious.
Sushi is sold with a rose
However, it is sold cheaply in a mass at 19:00 to close a shop at 19:10.
Because it is sold sushi of 3000 yen equivalency for 1000 yen, it is advantageous.
I went to always buy it at 19:00.
However, sushi can be sold out at 19:00.
Please confirm it from 18:30.

Because I become half price after 19:00, as for the side dish of here, "MAKI- sushi" "deep-fried chicken" "pork cutlet" is advantageous.
In addition, meat of here is recommended to the person who lives near because I am cheap.
