Whale Breeding

Why can't we breed whales liek we breed salmon? Is there any technical reason we can't do this?

I bet it's hard !

Holding on to a wet slippery salmon while you milk it's sperm is difficult, holding on to a whale's wet slippery penis while you milk it's sperm is darn nye impossible I bet(I've never tried it?).

You can take eggs from salmon for breed but whale is not fish.
How/where can we keep such big creatures, and how can we make them mate?

At least we cannot breed whale like we breed salmon...

I did wonder if..............

any very large aquarium somewhere in the world has bred whales while they are in captivity? I also wonder if whales ever deliver more than one calf at a time? I wonder how you would get whales in a "romantic/mating" mood? A candle light dinner and a movie or a lot of strong drink?

I have seen Beluga Whales reproducing in captivity but I think what the OP is thinking of is much larger species like Sperm Whales and Humpback Whales.
