Web Desingers

[Helpless]

Is there any web desingers living in Japan now that got their visa's and lived in the US before? I am will be studying to become a Web Master by this August. So I was wondering if it is possible (even though I think it will be hard) to get my visa via web masters. Is there anyone who did it this way? Please share your insight ^_^

I think you'll have a pretty hard time getting a hired outside of Japan for such a job. Namely, b/c there are tons of them in Japan, and also Japanese design tends to differ greatly from western. They usually only "bring in" the best. You might, however, have a pretty easy time getting a company to renew your working visa. In any case though, I assume it will be Specialist in Humanities or whatever they call it.

The japanesse usally dont hire someone from a diffrent country unless they cant do it themselves. which is why most people from america get jobs teaching english there.

Seems like the best thing to do is work as a teacher first and then do web design on the side or something...

Helpless -- that is the best way to do it. I did something similar. 1.5 years teaching, then got a job in systems administration. The thing is though, there's a much larger demand for bilingual systems people than there are bilingual web designers. It can happen though. I've got a few gaijin designer friends that are pretty successful.

Note for careerforum.net most places assume you're bilingual. But it is a great way to land a job in Japan. The Sanfrancisco career forum is IT specific, but Boston is also a good bet.

If want to start a Company you can, but keep open in case a company finds you! Put out some resumes either in English or Japanese. If you have a webpage, put a resume on it too.
