You should buy a book or enroll in a course first... it's a very LOOOONNGGG time to learn japanese... especially by email!

Erik-san has a point. The agony of learning the 3 alphabets(kata, hiragana, and kanji). The kanji will take forever, but you could go to various sites for beginners. I forgot what the URLs are, though. You could also buy a Japanese kanji dictionary on eBay(I brought one form a friend of mine.)
