What do I have to do to let other members send me a private e-mail? I have checked all the appropriate boxes and other members still get the message "this member does not authorize you to send them an e-mail" or something to that effect. Even when I myself click on "send an e-mail to this member" it comes up "unauthorized."

What am I doing wrong?

I'm not absolutely sure what is happening, but I belive (on top of enabling Private Messaging, of course) you go to

"User control panel"

"Edit profile"

"Optional info" (2nd big box from top)

and fill in those addresses if you have one in the category.

ICQ Number:
AIM Screen Name:
MSN Messenger Handle:
Yahoo! Messenger Handle:

I've also seen people place their addresses in their signatures.

Thanks. Understood. But my e-mail is listed as "jman1954 @ comcast.net" in the appropriate boxes and it still comes up as me not wanting to receive e-mails. I don't have instant messaging. I just want a member to be able send me an e-mail when he/she checks the box "send e-mail to Pachipro." Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure, but I distantly remember there was an option to either allow/not allow receiving email messages at the time of registration. I wonder if that has something to do ?
I enabled everything myself, but get the same "Sorry !..." message from the system if I try to send myself an email. It sounds like you might want System support from the administrator/moderator/advisor. I would be interested to know how this goes.

Agreed Lexico. I followed all protocols and still others cannot send me an email by clicking on the link. Maybe it does have something to do with registration. When I click on to send you an e-mail it tells me that you don't want to receive any. This I know for a fact to be false. Admins: What say you?

You might have found a vBulletin bug, Pachipro.

I rechecked my edit User CP > Settings & options > Edit options > Messaging & Notification > Receive Email > (where is says)

"You can allow other members to send you email messages. "
(V) Receive Email from Other Members

*V: this is the tick I put there a while ago.

Let's hope some solution lies out there, like in the Matrix.

Yes. Thanks Lex. I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem. I have had more than one member PM me to ask why they cannot send me an e-mail when I told them they could. Then I had to take the trouble of PMing them again with my e-mail address. Thanks admins and moderators.
