Using kik as a language exchange

Has anyone ever tried practicing japanese through kik? I have a friend whos doin it with me and it helps a lot. We only txt in japanese(via simeji). Ive been doing it for about a week and my conversational and reading skills have skyrocked. Im pretty sure this method could work for a penpal trying to learn english.
