Using Kara

Just started to learn on how to use Kara. Below I've tried to make a sentence using it and would really appreciate it if someone could let me know if it is correct or not, for my understanding.

I helped my mother. (It's) because she was busy.

Watashi wa okaasan wo tetsudaimashita. Okaasan isogashikatta kara.

It's understandable, but you'd better put "ga" after "okaasan" and "desu" at the end of the second sentence. Also, the order "reason/cause -> result" is more common. I would say "Watashi wa, okaasan ga isogashi sou datta kara testudaimashita." (~Sou means "to seem/look like ~".)

Alrighty. I had a gut feeling that desu was needed >_< also, the whole "reason/cause" order in this case is due to how it was written to me in my text book,so I assumed that I should following the same order when answering in japanese.
