Within the next few days, depending on how much preparation is required, we will upgrade the forum and all modules/add-ons to Xenforo 2.3. This upgrade has been in the pipeline for several years but has been postponed for a multitude of reasons. The upgrade involves countless new features and improvements, some of which are described here.

Although it is primarily technical and does not introduce any new features, this upgrade does not promise to be trivial. We will most likely be unable to port over all add-ons, such as our beloved but obsolete JayBot.

XF 2.3 is meant to clear the path for XF 3.0, which is supposed to be released in a few months and introduce more technical innovations and a new style.

It's not like we're procrastinating...

... but a few of our essential add-ons haven't been upgraded yet.

Our test site has been upgraded flawlessly, and our style has been ported over. Once the nitty-gritty is sorted out, I'll push the button.

I finally had time to tackle the upgrade, thanks to the rain today. I had already prepared the move in the past few weeks and months and successfully upgraded our sister site yesterday—no more excuses, yosh!

While few new features benefit users, things have changed significantly under the hood. The website should be faster now, as there is less Javascript overhead. I will keep the style simple, as there is another upgrade in the pipeline (XF 2.4 will introduce a new editor). 2025 will see a new software version, XF3, which will ship with a completely revamped style.

Not all add-ons have been converted to XF2.3 yet, so you must do without country flags for a while. Our beloved JayBot is also still operational, but it'll probably have to retire with the introduction of XF3.

If you find any errors, glitches, or inconsistencies, please post them to this thread.

As always, thank you for your understanding and patience! :)

I noticed the difference immediately when I just loaded the site.

Nice work @thomas! as resistant as I am to change in my old age, I appreciate the efforts and I'll strive to grumble as little as possible about the minor changes to the site layout. It actually looks pretty decent so far.

Silly but I kind of miss the country flag from where people are posting from.

About 2/3's of our new members now use VPN's to hide their true location. Even using "admin" features , it's hard to tell where they really are located. Pretty good you spotted that , I didn't even catch it.

Those are only given to St. Peter approved members with 20 years or more squatting here , LOL.

THIS FEELS WEIRD even if it changed abit mabye since am always on dark mod here cuz now its light😔 😔

I have "Change width" available but not Style chooser or light/dark icon.

Because there is only one style with a light/ dark switch. Anything else is admin magic. :)

I don't understand. The light/dark icon is not available to me. (The thing that you called a cog icon but is really a sun.)

Weird. I'm on my smartphone now, but even when logged out, I see this switch symbol:

I'll take a look later.

It appears if I log out. But when I log back in it disappears. Same thing on iphone browser.
