Upgrade to Xenforo

From my side, I just found a Firefox add-on called "document font toggle". Just puts a button in the toolbar so I can have icons here but still easily block font selection on other sites.

The main way i browsed in the old forum was by clicking "new posts," and there would be a clear (I think it was green) icon on threads I have participated in with new responses. does the new system have a similar feature, or is there a link to see things like "threads I've posted in," which would show threads with new responses at the top (or simply show them chronologically by the most recent post)?

the idea being, I'd use "New Posts" to find new threads or newly active threads which I might want to contribute to, but I'd like an easy way to track all the threads I've participated in, and see which ones have been responded to since my own posts

New posts you have participated in are marked with a small avatar superimposed over the regular avatar in thread view (see the red circle in the screen shot below). In that sense, it pays off to have an avatar, folks. 👍

"New Posts" basically display all unread threads, with the new unread ones on top, quite similar to vBulletin, but more efficient, because - unlike vB - unread threads will only disappear once you actually read them or "mark all threads read". Those threads appear under "not updated, but containing unread messages" (see the red rectangle below).

"Recent Posts" shows the last 200 active threads listed chronologically.

All in all, while slightly different from vB, it's without doubt superior.

I'd just like to note that I love the forum changes -- This new modern rendition of JRef is something that we've needed for a while!

Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it! :)

We still have a lot of threads to clean up, and the design is not final yet, but we're slowly getting there.

I must say I'm liking the little notification that tells me if someone has replied to the thread while I'm writing a response.

I apologize for the unannounced forum closure this afternoon (JST) and hope it hasn't caused too much of an inconvenience. We upgraded the forum and the gallery to their latest versions and applied several add-ons.

1.) One of those add-ons are "extended post ratings", giving our registered users more options to rate other members' posts (see image below):

post-ratings.webp

"Like", "Disagree", "Agree", "Friendly", "Informative", "Thank you", "Funny" and "Lock Thread". Hovering your mouse cursor over the images, 'tooltips' rendering their respective titles will pop up. I realize that "Disagree" allows for negative ratings, therefore it's not open to all user groups.

2.) We have re-imported all user albums from the old vBulletin installation. They can now be found here (only 25% cleaned up yet).

3.) Last but not least, we have implemented sidebars on forum_home, forum_list and thread_view which serve - among other features - ads. As annoying as they might be, please bear in mind that the yen depreciation has so far resulted in a 30% increase in hosting fees since we moved to our current host company in 2010. Our server is hosted in the US, and the current exchange rates are detrimental.

Thanks again for your understanding. If you find any glitches, report them right here, as usual.

お疲れ様でした!👍
Yeah, it's nice we have more options of ratings other than "Like".
This might occur only on me, but somehow the "Like" icon can't be seen in the position. (There is no problem with the rest ones "Disagree", "Agree", "Friendly", "Informative", "Thank you", "Funny" and "Lock Thread".)

Thank you for the feedback, @Toritoribe san! I'm glad you like the add-on. :)

I couldn't reproduce any misalignment in all sorts of browsers (on Win and iOS). Could tell me which browser, OS and screen resolution you were using?

My PC is being repaired now, so I'm using Firefox 34 on an old XP machine. That's the reason, maybe?

Thanks for the screen shot, I was afraid to ask you... :x3:

It could either be related to a low screen resolution or to deficient CSS rendering. I read that FF 33 and 34 have a few issues with JavaScript and several CSS rule sets. I'll see if I can find out more on that.

Thanks again!

My PC is back, but the "Like" icon is not displayed even on Win8.1 FF34/IE11/Chrome39, hmmm.

Thank you for the heads-up and sorry for the inconvenience! Could you tell me which screen resolution you are using? Though I don't think that's the issue...

Unfortunately I have no access to W8, but I'll keep on investigating.

Edit: I've altered a few settings, please let me know if that's changed anything.
