I applied for Miyazaki.
My professor told me that the results usually open in June and he will mail me as soon as he recieves the news. However, it July already and i haven't got any notice yet.

Thanx. I applied three times from the same university through university recommendation .but I am lucky enough that university recoomend me for the third times.usaully they reccomend two times but its depend on university.If your supervised prof. enough kind to u then i guess u should apply form the same universtity for 2nd times.after that u can change ur university or project or apply through another process.No worries hope for the best.Dont hasitate if u ask any help from me.

My prof is still kind to me. I told him i hope to apply again next year if he hasn't got any better candidates in his hand. He replied that i may apply but no guarantee to get it. I will try to contact other potential professor too. I got 1 question, can we apply for both university n embassy recommendation in almost the same time? One is in dec/jan, another one is march/april.

Nice to hear from you.No prob if u apply for both.Though luckily u get scholarship through embassy recommendation they will ask to choose ur school or prof.Then u can easily communicate ur same prof as he is very kind to you or other one.so no worries.

MEXT Scholarship Japanese category

Hi everyone. I don't know if I am at the right thread (although I found all of the previous replies/postings by everyone here very helpful), but just to give out a bit of background information, I applied for the Japanese category earlier this year and after passing the written test I was recommended by the Japanese embassy to MEXT. I was told that it would be in July if I hear back - I don't know if they will snail mail me an information package or send me an email, but I have yet to receive any news and as a result am starting to feel a little anxious. Did anyone who applied to the Japanese category hear back or know someone who has? Should I be looking around websites of the universities that I wrote down on my preference list? Should I write to the embassy? Comments, opinions, suggestions, everything else welcome!

Didn't get any news yet...
I mailed uni and they told me I'll receive notification by (postal) mail no later than this week.. Was supposed to be late June but it's already 7th of July... Can't wait anymore.

Hello floerlyj!

Are you talking about the Japan Studies program?
My embassy told me that they would first and foremost try to contact me by phone.
Secondly, by e-mail I think. They also told me, even though if I didn't recieve the scholarship, they would contact me through these means.
Unless they said that they wouldn't contact you if you didn't pass, I think you can be assured that they will contact you in one way or the other.

I read a blog about a guy who went during 2008. Apparently, the embassy had some sort of information meeting for all the ones who recieved the scholarship. I don't know about Australia, but in the case of Sweden, I don't think we will recieve any information packages. He also indicated that the results came out _very_ late that year, like late August. So late in fact, that 4 people who recieved the scholarship had only one week to prepare before they had to leave for Japan.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I am one of those have been rejected, i know no matter how, nothing will make us feel better. But as long as we want to pursue our study in japan, mext scholarship is the best for us still. All we can do is more 'ganbatte' for next round.
Btw, do you plan to change supervisor or research topic?

congrats to all who got the scholarship. and to all who did not, do not lose hope.

if you plan to apply again next year through university recommendation, my suggestion is to choose a good university. my hunch tells me that we hve higher chance when recommended by the best universities in japan. this is just a hunch. of course research proposal should also be good.

Do you know wut is your position in university.u can gear up ur point by sitting english language test certificate,Colleboration work with ur university from where u conferred ur degree and ur storng research proposal. Moreover u have to choose good university and influencial supervisor professor.best of luck.

I have been authorized as a grantee of Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship under University Recommendation, and admitted as a Master's course student to enter Graduate School of Engineering at Toyohashi University of Technology next October.

actually i was also trying for toyohashi university of technology , for the special masters program in english , and my other option was hokkaido university , i was short listed for both and chose hokkaido because of the status of the university , its old and an imperial university , toyohashi is a new university ,

Congratulations Mr. ankitravankar! Hokkaido Univesity is a great University!! I also have heard that Hokkaido has many beautiful landscapes -in Furano for example- so I am sure you will enjoy your stay in Japan!!

The special master program in english -Mechanical Engineering- you have mentioned is actually the course I'll be enrolled in. (I guess you have applied to e3 program in Hokkaido U, haven't you?)

I have chosen Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) for many reasons. Although it is a young university as you said, it is one of the best on my specific research topic all over Japan (High Temperature Air Combustion -HiTAC-)

Also, TUT is located in an important industrial zone of Aichi-ken. After graduation from this university, many people get jobs in big local companies as Toyota for example. I strongly believe that my choice increases my chances of getting a good job in Japan which is in the end, my main goal.
I am very happy but also worried because my Japanese language is still very basic
