U.N. Makes It Official: Global Warming Is B.S.

Global warming is pure BS and it would be a shame to see these cars "outlawed". Now that is a cool looking car Remixer. What a change in 36 years. However, I would be glad to own any one of them at the present time! When it comes to the Skyline, it will always remain a top pick to me.

100% agreement.

I always liked black Nissan Skylines. :)

I consider myself below average intelligence. I read a conservative's view on global warming. It stated that it does not take a liberal to realize that pumping hundreds of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere with a depleted ozone layer to realize that even the concept of global warming can be true. Even if it is not true and the earth is going through climate changes, the least and best thing we should do -- as our DUTY and OBLIGATION -- is to limit and eventually stop our "carbon emission".
It makes me sad to think that people who are more intelligent than me can think that global warming is a hoax. That's probably what everyone thought with CFC's and here we f'n are. Sulfur-spewing factories in Europe endangering public health, so many uninformed decisions...sometimes I liken global warmer nay-sayers to those people who denied AIDS was anything but GRID and then once again, here we are, too late and truly ****** until drugs like Combivir and Kaletra will actually work... Do you really think that the exhaust from a dump truck is doing nothing? We have had fuel for more than fourty years now, and not this 27 MPG we have nowadays, it was like 11-13 and with much more pollution...we're just seeing the after effects now, and they are continuing.
One might claim, but it's been colder! That disproves global warming! Think of what we've done. America as a whole has taken one baby step into the green field.
To end my claim, do you know that India is coming out with a car that costs 2000 dollars, which even the "poor" families will be able to afford, I think the Yata (or something)? I have said from the start, if it comes onto the market, say good ******* bye to the environment. Imagine if China was exposed to that.
On that subject we're also wasting quite a lot of plastic which will not degrade, are you against paying higher prices for soy-based plastics that deteriorate (with proper landfill chemicals) into core components which will be reused in 500 days or so? I wouldn't mind paying extra. I already get groceries in cloth bags. I hate to drag it into that field.
And you thought I wasn't below average intelligence, this will surely prove my point!

Absolutely auto makers going to exert themselves for the eventual billion plus middle class consumers in China and India. I only hope those light cars are not just energy efficient but actual hybrids or flexible-fuel convertible.

If they are gasoline-only, besides being essentially worthless in a decade any acceleration in oil prices will make driving unaffordable for everyone. And face it, oceans have probly already absorbed enough of the planet's excess heat and CO2 we're locked into temperatures that will make global warming (=environmental disruption) irreversible in even the best case scenario...for the next foreseeable if not thousand years, tens of thousands of millennia...:(

Hybrids don't measure up nearly as well as people think.

In fact, most of them have a similar fuel-consumption as compared to fuel-only cars.

The best options so far are hydrogen-fueled or electric cars. Development for both of them are steadily underway and progress is being made.

I have to say, Lotus' Tesla is one sexy sports car.

The biggest hindrance for hydrogen-fueled cars is the production of hydrogen and storage of it.

It is apparently quite inefficient and costly at this point of time and there are numerous safety concerns, but if a safe way can be developed, it might just be revolutionary.

I'm not convinced that geo-engineering is the way to go, but this is a major escalation of the struggle and indicates the US at least may finally dead serious about the strongest possible action on global warming.

The president's new science adviser said that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing drastic options to cool Earth's air....

hideaway, I'm not sure how thats funny. I've heard that as a legitimate argument. It snowed today, in NYC. By April it's usually summer. It snowed a shitton this year as well.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-perspec0405nanoapr05,0,986838.story

Sorry, it was the Tata, not Yata. And my favorite quote of the story:

Because of this huge potential market, and even though the Nano emits 25 percent less carbon dioxide per mile than a standard automobile, environmentalists are terrified by the micro-car. Nobel Prize winner Rajendra Pachauri, head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said he was "having nightmares" about the Nano and its potential to pollute.

This is just like that goddamn breast cancer incident where government and business pushes science into a direction that isn't exactly true. You either let a company make billions of dollar in revenue or you let the environment NOT ******* die.

I hate the way India is/acts so much sometimes.

Well, the problem with that argument is that global warming does not predict that. From what I understand, global warming predicts a change in the climate of the entire planet over a long period by only a few degrees at most. A day of freak weather does not herald global warming; that's been going on for so long. The only reason people focus on those freak weather days now is because global warming is on the table.

Global warming isn't BS, but the idea that it's being heavily influenced by human activity is in question.
There are a lot of changes taking place on the Earth and on other planets in the solar system as well. One thing people forget is that we are all living within the Sun's environment. We are not separate from the Sun, the Sun is the star in our system and we are within its sphere of influence. What it does directly affects us. If we ignore the sun and just look for 'domestic' reasons as to why the planets getting warmer, we'll definitely find reasons that seem to make sense without fully grasping the real reasons.

But that basically amounts to a lot of head scratching, scroll-writing and palm reading if you ask me. Politics influences science way too much to be anything more than it was say, when the Vatican was at the height of its power pre-enlightenment. Good science trumped by political ideology.

One example of the kind of dissenting voice that gets drowned out of official discussions:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/02/070228-mars-warming.html

I don't have the time to study global warming and it's causes in depth myself, so I'll trust the people who have the knowledge and expertise to tell me what's happening...

The majority of scientists that specialize in the field say global warming is in large part man-made....

Last Friday Lord Christopher Monckton, former advisor to British PM Margaret Thatcher was to speak and debate Al Gore before Congress. At the last minute (apparently someone had checked his facts) he was refused to speak and told he was not welcome.

Why? Is he correct in his facts that global warming is caused by sunspot cycles and that during the Mediaeval Period, when sunspot activity was at a peak, that the earth was indeed warmer than it is today and that, due to no sunspot activity in the last year that the earth is going into a global cooling as it did during the "Mini Ice Age"? following the Mediaeval Warming Period?

He presents some compelling arguments and leads me to further believe that this Global Warming garbage is just that, garbage, and pure, unadulterated BS.

Read his web page concerning "35 Inconvenient Truths" at http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/monckton/goreerrors.html

Look at excerpts from his video that there is no global warming crisis here and then come back and say global warming is a fact when the only fact remains is that it is all a ruse to control our way of life from what kind of light bulbs we use, to what kind of car we drive, to what ammenities we will have in our homes and how we will heat and cool it all at government directive. Is it any wonder why the government is taking over the mortgage industries, the automotive industries, the banking industries among others to be yet named? Look for talk of a "Global Carbon Tax" which will just go to finance the new world bank in the guise of "saving the planet".

For further truth and fact, listen to an interview with Lord Monckton yourself here and if you are still on the Global Warming BS bandwagon, or I should say, "Global Climate Change" (as that is the phrase they are using these days as they have so conveniently changed it and the controlled media rides along with it) then there is no help for you. You are just one of the sheeple who follow blindly everything you read and hear on the mainstream media without doing no independent research on your own and they are counting on the sheeple to further their agenda where they will control every aspect of your life.

Don't get me wrong here, I am all for doing away with oil and fossil fuels as they are a detriment to the environment and there ARE better, more cleaner fuels available, but the control that the oil companies have on our way of life and our governments is so strong that I will be long gone from this planet before they are implimented and used.

If Lord Monckton is wrong then he should've been allowed to speak before congress last week and have his facts refuted, but the fact that he wasn't ought to make everyone stand up and take notice that something is strange, really strange about this so called Global Warming BS for when one looks at the facts, an honest person comes to the conclusion that the sheeple are having the wool pulled over their eyes. Then again most sheeple are more comfortable with having the wool pulled over their eyes as they then do not have to do their own research.

s it any wonder why the government is taking over the mortgage industries, the automotive industries, the banking industries among others to be yet named?

Yeah that's not the reason at all, dude.

It would be "stupid" and perhaps "Neanderthal" to think that pumping the atmosphere full of harm full gasses will not have an effect on the global climate or the health of the plane over time.

The impact of human activities has been evident on a localized scale for the past few hundred years i.e. the dust-bowls of the mid-west. The dust bowls was on a small scale in comparison to what global warming is supose to be doing but I think it just shows what a few years of stupidity can cause.

Human activities might not be causing global warming at the moment, or it might...
My logic tells me, and I stress its my logic, that at some point the earth will not be able to cope with the vast amount of polution we are dumping on it every day its just illogical.

And if you are still one of those people who think the earth is infinite and can handle infinite pollution and infinite over harvesting please be rational and get on a plane and fly to some other part of the world and you will soon find out that the world is really not all that big.

I think this, Im alive now and the hell with the rest, ill be dead when the s%^t hits in any case, attitude is the cause of the worlds problems. That is the root of the problem. I can think of a few reasons why that is. I can think of one reason but I might be called a socialist ☝

I'm really not convinced either way. Basically nobody knows. I do say better safe than sorry. But, I do agree with Pachipro. For those of you hanging on for dear life to the global warming bandwagon, at the very least do not let yourself be manipulated by it. Pay attention to policies, and don't just "roll over" because somebody said "global warming" as if it is your cue to do your "trick".

Oooooh Remixer, what a gorgeous car!!! :12: :12: :12: I'm jealous!

As for global warming, there are studies that show different things, and truly I don't know what to believe. So I try and do my bit by not doing stuff that I know to be damaging to the environment... and for the rest, I have to admit I don't care so much, because I'll be dead, and leave my grandchildren to deal with it, sorry kids but I've had my innings...

How can you be so sure? no man knows whats happening for sure. a lot of theories but no consensus...
So the real question is:
Are you willing to take the RISK and buy cars, pollute the environment, throw garbages on the recycle bins or you step out from your show-off ego and think about the other possibility, and ameliorate your way of life with more environment friendly behaviour?
The choice is individual but the outcome is ou there.

Global Warming is a SCAM!

Well, it seems the controlled media here in the US still refuses to talk about, and completely ignores, the leaked e-mails from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia. Also, the so-called "Global Warming" Conference is continuing to go on in "Hoaxenhagen", as if the e-mails and the hoax did not exist. They honestly believe that the general public, the "sheeple" if you will, are so trained by the major media that they will believe anything that comes out of this scam meeting.

For a complete list of all the e-mails from 1996-2009 go to this website and read them for yourself if you still believe what the media tells you in that global warming is "man-made" with their CO2 emissions and all.

Since there are so many e-mails one cannot read them all, but if you use the search engine and put in words like "Gore", "CO2 emissions", "fossil fuels" "solar radiation", "tree rings", etc., etc., an average, intelligent person cannot help but come to the conclusion that there is a hoax being perpetrated on the people of the world and that the scientists involved are the willing participants and pawns in a scam to fudge statistics and lie to the people of the world.

I have spent the better part of a week going through these e-mails and I am convinced beyond any shadow of a doubt that it is a scam. Granted, the participants and scientists involved are arguing among themselves and most disagree with what they are doing, but they forge onward with this hoax because of the greed, grants, positions, prestige, etc involved. Once going through the e-mails (and yes, they are real) any intelligent person can deduce that they are fiddling with statistics to come to the conclusion that global warming is indeed man made and is not a natural phenomenon as many of them believe. You will discover that they are so arrogant that they actually believe that what they print will be believed by the general populace, the "sheeple", because, after all, they are scientists and who would argue with scientists whose "findings" and "proof" have been "peer reviewed" by upper echelon scientists that are forcing them, at the risk of their jobs, tenure, prestige, and future "papers", to come to the conclusion that global warming is man-made.

In a way I feel sorry for these scientists, but on the other hand I curse them, because they are in on the scam and are lying and falsifying true science to satisfy their superiors and the desire of the elitists to come to a "scientific conclusion" about global warming. Here are some excerpts that may be taken out of context, but put in the key words in the search engine and these e-mails will pop up.

think they are dishonest and members of a club that has much to
gain by practicing and perpetuating global warming scare
tactics. That is not to say that global warming is not occurring
to some extent since it would be even without CO2 emissions. The
CO2 emissions only accelerate the warming and there are other
factors controlling climate. As a result, the entire process may
be going slower than the powers that be would like. Hence, (I

motivation to be dishonest or seriously biased, and to be loyal
to their equally dishonest club members. Among the motivations
are increased and continued grant funding, university

other motivating factors I am too inexperienced to identify.

I could post more, but who would read such a long post? I say look for yourself, read them, and come back here to debate why you believe global warming is man-made and real and not just a natural phenomenon that the earth has experienced thousands of times over. Tell us why you do not believe it is a scam to bilk the EU and the US out of billions in "greenhouse taxes" to supplement China when they are not required, along with India to reduce their own greenhouse gasses. Why are they given a free pass? Could it be because of their cheap labor and the mass profits to the international conglomerate corporations? Duhhhhhhh!

In the past Greenland was free of ice. Why? Was it because of man-made greenhouse gasses like CO2 when man was not even in the industrial revolution yet? Was it caused by primitive man burning firewood to keep warm and feed their families? What caused the freezing over of Greenland? There was a reason why it was called "Green"land you know. Could it be because it was green and lush with vegetation. Wow!

How quick are you to jump into conclusions? How exactly does that e-mail proofs anything at all?

So, according with the e-mail, some data from 2008 provided an anomaly reading in the constant warming that has been registered in EVERY previous data reading. The person who wrote the mail states that this discrepancy should be the consequence of a fault in their observing system and shows a powerpoint to backup his theory.

This so totally proves that global warming is an hoax.

Well, I gave the reasons why they are fiddling with the statistics, even they themselves know what they are doing is wrong and if one refuses to go through the e-mails to discover for oneself, what am I to do? The fact remains that it is a scam. Pure and simple.

EPA Declares CO2 a Pollutant: "Businesses Fume Over Carbon Dioxide Rule"

Leave it to the EPA and the Obama administration to now declare CO2 to be a pollutant when all life on planet earth as we know it depends on CO2 as without it nothing would survive.. Yes, they really do intend to tax the very air that you breathe to achieve their goal of taxing Japan, the UK, Europe and the US into subsidizing China, India and other third world countries when they themselves, will not sign on to this treaty but will spew out more CO2 than all the countries combined listed above will ever emit in the coming years. Yet we get to pay for their industrialization and entry into the world of industrialized powers.

If the powers that be that closed factories in Japan, Europe, the US, etc and moved them to China and India really wanted to have a greener planet, these two countries would be the greenest on the planet as the technology already exists for the building of cleaner, greener factories. But, noooo, they are industrializing with 19th and 20th century cheaper technology and we get to pay for it in the guise of "saving the planet". From whom? The US, Japan? when they themselves have already decreased their CO2 out put by more than 75%! Doesn't make much sense to me and reeks of a scam.

Here is a link to a PDF file by Lord Christopher Monckton, former Science Adviser to PM Margaret Thatcher concerning Climategate. An excerpt:

The gallant whistleblower now faces a police investigation at the instigation of the University authorities desperate to look after their own and to divert allegations of criminality elsewhere. His crime? He had revealed what many had long suspected:

 A tiny clique of politicized scientists, paid by unscientific politicians with whom they were financially and politically linked, were responsible for gathering and reporting data on temperatures from the palaeoclimate to today's climate. The ツ"Teamツ", as they called themselves, were bending and distorting scientific data to fit a nakedly political story-line profitable to themselves and congenial to the governments that, these days, pay the bills for 99% of all scientific research.

 The Climate Research Unit at East Anglia had profited to the tune of at least $20 million in ツ"researchツ" grants from the Team's activities.

 The Team had tampered with the complex, bureaucratic processes of the UN's climate panel, the IPCC, so as to exclude inconvenient scientific results from its four Assessment Reports, and to influence the panel's conclusions for political rather than scientific reasons.

 The Team had conspired in an attempt to redefine what is and is not peer-reviewed science for the sake of excluding results that did not fit what they and the politicians with whom they were closely linked wanted the UN's climate panel to report.

 They had tampered with their own data so as to conceal inconsistencies and errors.

 They had emailed one another about using a ツ"trickツ" for the sake of concealing a ツ"declineツ" in temperatures in the paleoclimate.

 They had expressed dismay at the fact that, contrary to all of their predictions, global temperatures had not risen in any statistically-significant sense for 15 years, and had been falling for nine years. They had admitted that their inability to explain it was ツ"a travestyツ". This internal doubt was in contrast to their public statements that the present decade is the warmest ever, and that ツ"global warmingツ" science is settled.

 They had interfered with the process of peer-review itself by leaning on journals to get their friends rather than independent scientists to review their papers.

 They had successfully leaned on friendly journal editors to reject papers reporting results inconsistent with their political viewpoint.

 They had campaigned for the removal of a learned journal's
editor, solely because he did not share their willingness to debase and corrupt science for political purposes.

 They had mounted a venomous public campaign of disinformation and denigration of their scientific opponents via a website that they had expensively created.

 Contrary to all the rules of open, verifiable science, the Team had committed the criminal offense of conspiracy to conceal and then to destroy computer codes and data that had been legitimately requested by an external researcher who had very good reason to doubt that their ツ"researchツ" was either honest or competent.
Take it for what it's worth if you care to educate yourself and read that many pages. He breaks it down better than I could ever hope to. After all he is a scientist and why would he lie and what would he have to gain?

@Drew-san: who knows I will live that long? ;-)
but anyway I can take care of the environment, cos I don't have a car or anything, but I don't think it will do any good, because it is mostly businesses and industries causing the problems. ☝

That's not a fact. You simply, for reasons that transcend me, want it to be.

Doesn't make much sense to me and reeks of a scam.
I believe that this quote explains exactly how can people still be against what 99.99% of the scientists (those who actually STUDY and MONITOR the data) say. Alternatively, I guess we could throw all that data and studies away and stick with what your "sense" tells you.

Take it for what it's worth if you care to educate yourself and read that many pages. He breaks it down better than I could ever hope to. After all he is a scientist and why would he lie and what would he have to gain?
LOL. So much fun.

All that "scientist" have is a diploma on Journalism Studies and a long political career. He started to publish articles about the subject in 2006 for Christ sake. How in earth you can consider him an expert on the subject is anyone's guess. He is a POLITICAL personality. I wonder if you even cared to check who he is and where did all that information came from.

I'm going to ignore his affirmations that have absolutely no base or proof as they are meant to only as defamatory attacks.

 The Climate Research Unit at East Anglia had profited to the tune of at least $20 million in "research" grants from the Team's activities.
So research units need funding to do their work. SCANDAL!

 They had campaigned for the removal of a learned journal's
editor, solely because he did not share their willingness to debase and corrupt science for political purposes.
Yes, I read about this. They were for the exclusion of an editor who published non-scientific articles in a SCIENTIFIC journal. CHOCK! SCANDAL!

 They had emailed one another about using a "trick" for the sake of concealing a "decline" in temperatures in the paleoclimate.
