i went to talk to my career counsellor today, and when we set time for the next appoinment, the next appointment is May 2nd, i looked at the date, and realized i will be turning 20 in two months

i am kinda scared and worried about turning 20, i feel that i am not ready for all the changes and things...i have always wished to stay to be a kid for my whole life....but time flies so fast

i never really had a long-term friend, okay maybe one, but we often had problems and we wouldn't contact each other for months...
my mom hasn't always been with us since when i was four, so i was raised by my father, he admits that he doesn't really know how to raise children, he also told me that our family has financial problem, now all the sudden i feel that the situations and everything is forcing me to grow up, but i don't know how to grow up and how to handle the pressure. i don't know what to do...

i certainly miss my highschoo life, just going to classes, hanging out with friends, playing ball in break time, lunch, after school, worrying about homework,tests...i regret leaving highschool at gr.11, when i think back about it, i think i was really stupid...and i am turning 20 soon and i am still trying to finish my highschool education to get an adult dogwood certificate, i want to finish it asap and go to college, long ways to go.

just wanna say this out, i have no one to talk to
sometimes i really want to shout out loud
thank you if you finish reading this rant...

the link to your website is not operating.

if you make up your own weblog, like on msn spaces, more people can see what you write.

personally, i had good results from people contacting me from the msn member directory!

It's cool, Dreamtime, rant away.

Don't let the pressure get to you, man.
I have some fairly big changes coming in my life soon, too.
Am I ready? Hell no. Is that going to stop me? Hell no!
(Ha ha, just kidding. At least, I think I'm ready.)
I hate to recommend hedonism, but it works for me when I need to escape.

😌

At this point in time I would insert the phrase, "life sucks and then you die", but I'm not in my usual pessmestic mood today. Damn.

Doc:ramen:😄

It's all good DT. While 20 is certainly an important milestone, you'll have quite a few more before you know it. To borrow a quote from Starship Troopers (the original mind you, not that cinematic dungheap of a sequel...), "The only true freedom anyone has in this world is the ability to figure things out for themselves" (or something along those lines, heh). Just have fun and enjoy life because next thing you know is you wake up one morning and you're 33, still single, and starting from scratch with a new business venture (yes, i'm 33 8-p). That's when the stress starts to set in... heh. Remember, the most important thing is just be true to your self, have fun, and enjoy life along the way. Follow that simple formula and you'll have little to no regrets in the future. 8-)

I think it'll just pave its way over time. I used to keep feeling that, all these people that go away to college in some other state or country, they must know it all about independence. While me, still in the same place, with parents, didn't know squat about how to do taxes, how insurance works, how to do mortgage, can't cook, had no job--how am I suppose to survive on my own? And I was about 18-20 years old then, too. But I'm starting to get it (other than cooking...). Over time, you just have to do these things, and you eventually learn it.

the link in my profile is actually a link to my 'business' site, i was setting up a site to run a music label sort of thing, but i am holding up that plan right now

i have Xanga and Myspace accounts actually , but i don't think people are reading and replying to my entries, so i figured i would get more people reading this stuff on here, lol

I know exactly how you feel. I don't want to grow up either, the "outside" world is too stressful. I was on the verge of having a breakdown during a ACT-prep test. Now just imagine me trying to get bills paid on time, work, and have time for myself.
I can't really think about it.
Try to think of it as an adventure. Growing up can be OK I guess. Go to a karaoke bar, and dance away. Maybe you'll meet a friend or two. :-)

i think one of the things that caused me to feel so worried and scared about entering 20, is that, i left highschool when i was grade 11, i was 17, and now i am going 20 soon and i am still trying to get the adult dogwood, i am about 2,3 years behind others already, and i might need another year or two to finish the highschool education, i want to go to college, to make friends, to play basketball, you know...if i had finished my highschool education at 18, i might have felt much better than this...

i keep thinking about why i left highschool, i was so stupid, i didn't cherish what i had, highschool is actually very fun you know, but i didn't cherish it, and now i regret for it

i still live with my family, i am okay with that because i like to stay with my family, i am Asian, lol
i guess i'll live with my family probably until i get married.
many westerners gets 'kick out' by their parents when they are 18, right? thats what my career counsellor told me, lol

Hey, that's cool, man. I'm Chinese and live with the family too. haha!
But you kinda remind me of my brother. He's 21 and loves B-ball. Except he didn't finish HS earlier, but he keeps in contact with his friends even though their not in the same school anymore. You going to college now? If not, college (to me at least), is practically like HS, but with more freedom. You get to slack more, hang out with friends, and think about the future.

I just turned twenty on the the twenty fourth of April.

I can't really say it was a scary time for me. I really think it's odd that I'm not a teenager anymore. But really the thing that bothers me the most is that I'm not even in college pursuing the career I actually want.
It is really strange not being in highschool anymore. Before you graduate, you don't realize how pud your life is. That is until after high school and you aren't going to college and you're working two jobs and paying bills and actually for the first time assuming responsiblilty for the important things in your life.
But really, at 20, we're still very young. Man, we got our whole lives ahead of us, they haven't even really started yet. And I think there's plently of time to decide what you really want to do and such.
Don't stress it. I think everything will be just fine. 😎

The best thing about turning is you're no longer a teenager. But I would say it's not such a big thing. And I think it's wonderful, just enjoy this time in your life. Make it exciting. 👍

The age means nothing more than the amount of importance you put on it. I have sene it twice now and can tell you that you are not on the edge of something firgtening, you are on the edge of something great - becoming who YOU want to be,not who others think you should be.

You can decide what attributes in life you want to develop, where as as teenagers we all struggel more to find a way to fit in, even if it is with a group that claims they don't fit in! :-)

Remeber your youth - cherish the sweet memories and learn from the bitter ones. But don't cling to it. The past is like a mountain. Learn to get over it and the path ahead offers many directions. Cling to it and you will never progress. Forget it's lessons and you will have to struggle over every mountain ahead.

many of my highschool friends just came and went, so really i only have one highschool friend left, i've know him since 16
