How to protect oneself from tuberculosis? Okita Souji, captain of the first unit from Shinsengumi suffered TB, during the Tokugawa period.

Pretty rare in most countries to still have TB as a major problem. In my 20 years of nursing , I never had a patient with it that I know of. There is a simple test for it where they inject a tiny bit of chemical under your skin near the wrist and if you have it there is a reaction the next day. Night sweats and a bad cough can be a sign to watch for. In some countries with poor sanitary conditions where you are jammed in trains & buses like sardines , there are still cases that spread. Caught early , it usually can be treated and cleared up. Maybe next time you are at the doctors , ask him about your area.
