nandomo kurikaesu kedo sunzen de mata jikai e
sweet na otomegokoro wa ainiku toriatsukattenai no desu

I know what each of the words mean, but I can't seem to think of a proper translation in english that doesn't sound stilted.

for the first line, i know the first part says "it repeats over and over again". I also know "sunzen" means just before or immediately before. so if i have (blank) sunzen, it means just before (blank). the probem i have in this sentence is that when they use sunzen de, exactly what is sunzen modifying? the only thing before sunzen is nandomo kurikaesu kedo, so my guess is that it means "just before it repeats over and over again, it moves on again to the next." the thing that's bothering me though is the "kedo". i'm not sure how to fit that into a proper translation.

for the second line, toriatsukattenai means to deal with or to handle. so the second line seems to mean "unfortunately, i have not handled a sweet maiden's heart". but for some reason that doesn't make sense to me. is there a better way to express the second line in english?

You should provide us the whole lyrics in Japanese, or at least give us the link to the lyrics.

"Just before to say 'I love you' to you" is my interpretation. You need to interpret it from the context of the WHOLE lyrics.

I don't HAVE a sweet maiden's heart.

Anime Lyrics dot Com - Q&A Recital! - Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - Anime

this is the link to the full song. and here is the relevant paragraph where i was having some trouble:

akiru kurai zenbu kimi ga hoshii yo haato wa namida de ippai
koi no iroha to ka mada wakattenai nda
nandomo kurikaesu kedo sunzen de mata jikai e
sweet na otomegokoro wa ainiku toriatsukattenai no desu
nee, kore ga I love you?

looking back at the previous line, it says "i still don't understand the basics of love". now when i move on to the next line, i'm not sure what nandomo kurikaesu kedo refers to. is it saying "i went over (these basics) several times" or "love is something that occurs again and again"?

if its the first case, then i'm not sure how to fit in sunzen de mata jikai e. i would roughly translate it like: "i went over (these basics) several times, but just before i understand it, (it moves on to next time)". the part in parenthesis feels really iffy to me.

thank you for your earlier post!

I googled and already found the lyrics, otherwise I couldn't answer.

What you are looking for are both not directly mentioned in the lyrics. You need to interpret it from the context, as I wrote. (And my interpretation is that she is saying that she is hesitating about telling him her feelings through the whole lyrics.)

Yeah I realize that song lyrics aren't straightforward to translate and some parts can really be interpreted several ways. I have found some english translations for this song, but there were some parts where I just did not agree with how they translated it.

I do think your interpretation fits better than the ones I found. thank you for replying.
