Okay, QUESTION! How would you pronounce tokui? Is it like how it sounds?
[toe-koo-ee] or.. something different? I'm still awful at this, bare with me >.< (Watashi wa Nihongo ga amari tokui dewa arimasen)

pretty much. but I think jouzu would be more natural to use instead of tokui.

All Japanese is basically pronounced like it sounds...that is the nature of pronounciation after all. But yes. Toe koo ee. Compare tokui and nigate.

I thought it was considered bad Japanese to use jouzu about your own skill level (well at least thats what my jap teacher has been saying >.>)

If you're saying it is something you are not, then certainly it is not 'bad' japanese. Though really, its bad quality is not because the language is bad, but because you're being full of yourself. People who are just beginning to learn English shouldn't be going around saying 'My English is good' either...

Also, jap teacher offends some here so try to avoid that abbreviation in the future...

Ah ok sorry, im so used to speaking on MSN I guess its beginning to filter down into all levels of my writing XD. (don't get me wrong I have nothing but respect for Japanese teachers, i mean trying to teach people any language cant be easy).

Is pera pera considered "up yourself" as well? seeing as how your saying your fluent.

I wouldn't think so, although it does mean fluent but I usually hear used to describe a third party and not ones self. But common sense says you don't want to brag in another language, unless your fluent, and even then it would be a bad idea.
