I tried to translate the sentence: "Right now, it is between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM."

My initial try was "六時半と七時午前の間にです。"

Then I had Google translate the original sentence for me, and got: "今は、朝6時半から7時です。”

Which one is more natural, or would you suggest a different way to say it? Also, is it common to use the actual numbers instead of their kanji equivalent? (e.x. 6,7 instead of 六、七)

I think your attempt is pretty good but 午前 precedes the time and you don't need the に and you forgot the 今.
今(は)午前六時半と七時の間です。
Yes it's more common to use actual numbers instead of kanji for time.
