Dear native English speakers,
I need your help.

Would both be used?
(a) They can't have played a game in the heavy rain.
(b) They shouldn't have played a game in the heavy rain.

Obviously completely different meanings, but yes. For avoidance of doubt, A means that it would have been impossible (and therefore didn't happen), and B means that it did happen and was a bad decision.
