Double Typhoon Update: Typhoon No. 8 is expected to approach from the pre-dawn hours through early morning, followed by Typhoon No. 7 later. Be prepared for heavy rain during the night and stay alert for the risk of landslides. When will the rain finally stop?
Weather briefing by meteorologist Tomohiro Maeda (Friday, June 26, 2026, around 6:00 p.m.)

Japan is currently being approached by a pair of typhoons. Of the two, Typhoon No. 7 is expected to make its closest approach to the Kinki (Kansai) region from early afternoon to early evening on Saturday, June 27.

A major earthquake has struck the Kanto region, and aftershocks are likely to continue. Please stay alert for both earthquakes and the risk of heavy rain.

A couple weeks ago there were some days warm enough to turn on the a/c, but wonderfully cool since then--cool enough to keep the windows closed later evenings/nights. Great sleeping weather.

One of our kids & family are arriving via narita mid afternoon, some worry over the typhoon a couple days ago, but nothing now.
