already saw the episode 'in marge we trust' which had some japanese in it, that was the best

Oh my goodness, if they cut beer out the picture it completely removes the essence of why Homer Simpson is an idiot. Well, unless they cut out all the times he's been hit over the head. :? Oh well, this is interesting to know.

It could be fun if we also were given the chance to watch at least one episode of "Al Shamsoons"..
Personally, I think it would be greater if the original versions was aired on Arab TV, as I think some would actually laugh at a fat, donut-eating drunk called Homer Simpson!! heheh

Some scholars actually think it would benefit U.S.-Arab relations if The Simpsons was aired in its original version in the Middle East, since they believe that it is harder to really hate a people when those people are made fun of...hmmm...

If they take out Moe's tavern there will be about three episodes left! But I agree that they should just show the original versions. They didn't rewrite the Simpsons for a British audience, not even that episode with Tony Blair in, which I found personally offensive (jk).

well they didn't rewrite the ones aired in Japan either...and quite a few of those are rude(to say the least) to Asians!

Yes, but I also think the Simpsons aired in Asian countries kept most of the original stuff, like the beer, and most of the crude behaivor. Alot things are going to have to cut out because most of the stuff on the Simpsons seems very unacceptable in Arab society. :?

I can't think of anything more tragicly hillarious than this.

The whole point of the Simpsons was it's parody of American culture--without that it's just stupid.

Homer sitting on his fat but eating pork chops and drinking beer was supposed to offend us[i/]--why shouldn't it offend arabs too?

The entire point was to display him as a comicly bad role model--this effect would only be hieghtened in a culture that dissaproves of alchohol and pork. It'd be like handing them a caracture of their impression of us, and saying "See, we get it too."

Instead we just continue to look like a country of people whose heros are fat lazy idiots.
