Stolen the name and thread off another forum I'm in, wondering if anyone else likes the games?
You might have heard of it as Project Zero.

Project Zero seems familiar... but I haven't played it I'm afraid. Or at least I don't think soo... :?

what's it about?

I've only played the second one... and, to be honest, not much of it ^^; I panicked when 2 violent ghosts attacked me at once, hehe. I've just watched other people, pretty much...

It's about twins, Mio and Mayu who, while wandering through a forest they used to play in as kids, stumble across a village - All God's Villagem known now as The Lost Village... It is said whoever enters the village can never leave, after the villagers were massacred after a once holy ritual was perverted (and no, not in any dirty way).

Some links for better info than I can give ^^; -

Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly

If anyone wants all the cutscenes from Fatal Frame 2, ask me, I've got them all saved (even the game over screen)

Seems like a scary game... I really love the scary ones, but I never dare to play them! XDD I can only watch as others do. Silent Hill, as an example, make me freak out! I had to stop playing that.

Nice with the links, I went to the homepages and watched a trailer... scary 😲 I'm such a silly person, getting scared soo easily.

Now I really wanna play this game! Is it very famous, though? Since there's a movie and everything?

o.o there's a movie?

Oooooh nooo I really am living under a rock!

It's not huge, but a lot of people here have suddenly started buying the first game, don't know why.

Scary games are too hard to play >.<

I think Fatal Frame is much more scary then Silent Hill becuase theres no weapons, all you have is a camera to protect yourself. I liked fatal frame crimson butterfly better then the first one becuase i actually got farther in it and the story was creepy. I stoped playing the game only when miyu's flashlight went off O~o and then i couldnt see anything in the dark and i didnt want to go running into ghosts so i never played afterwards.

👍 Ya the third 1 shud be gud..there definatly the scariest games...especially wen u have 2 use a camera instead of a gun or sumthin!!..who agrees? 🙂

i agree, if the game was real there would be no way i would survive with a camera or a gun lol

cool!

Scary...

Ah, the Fatal Frame games, or Project Zero, as they are known in Europe. I own them both the first and the second, and they really creep me out! I cannot play them on my own, I swear. I need my friend with me, so when one of us creeps out, we just throw the pad at the other person. It's easier to play that way. I haven't completed any of them though, they freak me out too much. In my opinion, they are much more frightening than the Silent Hill games. I think that's because I find ghosts scarier than zombie things.

I wouldn't recommend these games to people of a nervous disposition, that's for sure!

😜 in all fairness i never found fatal frame THAT scary 😎 ......i know there like the scariest games ever but it never made me wanna crap my pants and i cud always play them alone, even with the lights out!!although it is really scary wen u only have a camera as a weapon.... 👍 i dont know bout anyone else........ :? GREAT games though...cant wait 4 the 3rd!!!

I know I know I want the third!!!!! :D

I've got through the first night on the fisrt one...but when I played the second one, it made the fisrt one look a **** load more easy...it's because you fight one ghost at a time not 2.....at least until you get much further in the first one

I have played both these games and got to the final boss, but couldn't beat it on either. On the first game I had to give up because I was getting pains in my chest it was so stressful to play! Now that's scary! :D

Oh yes, definitely. I am not into the horror genre at all, but those games captured my heart.

Well, actually I have just finished the first one, but I already bought the second.

Everything about them is just right - the mood, the environment, the sounds, the architecture...

And, best of all, they don't just rely on gore or the odd scare (plus lots of shooting of zombies), but rather more in the atmosphere and plot. Loved it. Also, I quite liked the ending of the first one. Sweet how Kirie and Mayufu end up.

I did find them quite spooky, especially because I live alone and play them on a widescreen tv with full 5.1 sound - that meant that I heard the odd noises that sometimes show up in Himuro mansion just as if they had been whispered right next to my ear - THAT sure made me jump more than a little bit.

I also suspect that it made me lose some sleep, but can't be 100% sure.

The ghosts are very well done. The fact that they aren't for the most part anonymous but real people with motives truly made me feel sorry for them. I really regretted having to hurt most of them, especially the children. They generate more pity than hate, and THAT is really the core of a good ghost story.

Also, was I the only one to find it deeply disturbing the background sound of kids playing 'Kagome' in the second night?

In the first game, Kirie is very easy to beat (did so yesterday). One of the easiest, in fact. Just keep your distance and shoot her with type-90 film as soon as the capture circle turns amber/red - she won't be hit by anything less.

If there are tremors you may want to reposition, but do it fast, as she regenerates. If she becomes invisible, she will reappear in the spot where she was in a few seconds. Just keep calm and wait for her.

If she teleports, turn around fast, as she is behind you.

After your camera blows up, run from her and near the stone where the mirror should go - the last fragment is near it, to Mikus' left. Pick it up, and all the fragments will combine. Then go fast to the front of the monument and press action. She will insert the mirror and they you'll see that endearing finale.

Best luck,
Keoland

I think my problem is I used all my type-90 already! I will probably play it again some day, and save up those type-90s!

Wait! There is still hope! Type-74, while not as good, will also do - it will just take you longer to bother Kirie! What you *must* do is shoot the photo when the capture circle turns amber - i.e. you need critical shots.

You certainly have a save game at the Moon Well. How many film exposures do you have?

Health items? (the only thing you really can have against her is 1 Stone Mirror)

How is your camara? Fully upgraded in Range, Speed and Damage, I hope?

You really have to get through her, as you are *very* near the end, and the ending is really very moving 👍

I will try again, after I get my prescription for heart medicine! :D

Yes, the game IS spooky :devilish:

Still, you should endeavour to finish it. If you do not, you will not exorcize the ghosts, and they will keep haunting you.

I only felt relieved from them after I had finished it 😌

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game series!
I cannot wait till Fatal Frame 3!

Out of the 2 I played, the 2nd is the most scary for me.
I literally, at one part, jumped up and ran out of my room! hehe

Very scary games. It's a shame they are not mentioned in the same breath as other horror game greats- Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc.
