There are more and more westerners this days who self-believe or who make groundless believe that Japanese love them as much as they love Japanese which lead to the increase of westerners crimes in Japan this days because those westerners end up thinking they just can do whatever they want to Japanese in Japan. This have to be stopped, so I decide to make this topic to inform any westerners at least the one who read this topic that Japanese not love them as much as they believe Japanese love them, in fact most Japanese in Japan hate/detest westerners due to many kind of reasons. Just check this videos as references :

- [video=youtube;N6vCjqJ9U7k] - [video=youtube;hzmgyFQNvvU] Those videos shows that many Japanese shops and other commercial place owners in Japan put up "no foreigners allowed" signs in their shops which actually not directed to anyone who is not Japanese but only directed towards westerners. The signs are made to prevent westerners from shopping in those Japanese shops due to many crimes related things which done by westerners in Japanese shops in Japan. Those videos can also shows westerners crimes in Japan are very high each year and also shows Japanese have negative views towards westerners due to all the westerners crimes in Japan.

- [video=youtube;YhNrHWXNMzM] Those videos show the fact that westerners always fail cosplaying Anime characters are angering millions of Japanese who are Otaku or who are Anime fans.

Of course you can see more videos like that for reference by checking the related videos of those videos, but you can see much more videos and statements like that in Japanese based video sharing websites, blogs and forums because english is not a common language in Japan.

This kind of forums who reap on the Japan's name should make some kind of topic that teach about Japanese customs/etiquet to give a positive contribution to Japan.

For what it's worth, the "No foreigner" signs I came across last month in Japan were generally the result of staff not being able to/too embarrassed to speak English. Funnily enough, after using the little survival Japanese I feel confident about using, suddenly there was no problem. Maybe they noticed the 窶愿ｺ窶愿?津ｰ窶板ｬ badge on my bag and that somehow put me on their list of approved palefaces. Or maybe Germany isn't far enough to the west. Too bad OP will never be able to tell me. :<

IIRC the guy who shouted "white pig go home" later apologized for it. So much for that.

The general idea seems to be that Japanese treat you like you treat them. Chris Johnson comes to mind.

And there's equally as much racism towards the Japanese in the west. Go on, click the links in the previous sentence. Anyone who is naive enough to think that only Japan is like this is an idiot.

Before anyone digs up my post history on here to tell me that what I'm saying is unqualified, former classmates who now live in Japan tell me that my observations were generally accurate.
 
If someone hates me for not being able to choose where I was born then they care for me more than I do them.
 
I think people make far too much of the alleged anti-western feeling, although the behavior of some foreigners could justify it.
 
It's kind of hard to choose from the answers you have in your poll!

Some Japanese love foreigners, some hate them! I do have to say that the way some Japanese think of other Asians can be pretty negative compared to the way some look at westerners.
 
The "poll" is designed badly, plain and simple. It's a Hobson's choice and heavily skewed in one direction. Not to mention statements like "in fact most Japanese in Japan hate/detest westerners due to many kind of reasons" are broad generalizations.
 
I think many of anime lovers get angry when saw bad cosplaying including me... and I'm agree we could never cosplay as good as japanese coz we are not japanese xD but, we could do quality too... but now I will never try to cosplay again xD
 
There are prejudiced people and haters in every country. Nothing out of the ordinary here. I don't call this the rule, I call it the exception.

While I have never noticed a no gaijin sign at a shop myself,
probably because i don't pay attention to what is on the outside of the shop, being more concerned about what is in it.

It sounds to me that they exist.
Which I find strange. In most civilised countries such a sign would be illegal.

Also arguments defending these things are beyond weak and reek of bigotry.

Essentially the OP is asking, Is Japan Racist?

Racism has it's roots in fear and most of all ignorance.

Japan is possibly one of the most mono-chrome places I have been,
So there is certainly a great deal of Ignorance concerning westerners,
With most people taking the large majority of their information regarding the subject from sensationalist media.
Or worse.

Foreign people are perhaps perceived to commit more crime because every time one does, the issue of nationality is raised as if it were a part of the crime.
Some media outlets in the UK do this or have done this with Muslims.
Pointing out that the person who commit x horrible crime was a muslim.
When in truth their religion has nothing to do with it.

e.g. the headline will read.
YOUNG GIRL RAPED BY MUSLIM!
but you will never read
YOUNG GIRL RAPED BY CATHOLIC! (because they prefer boyz)
nor will you read the headline
YOUNG GIRL RAPED
because that is not newsworthy.

The same works with all media.
This sensationalisation of underlying fears and insecurities helps to sell media.

But again this is not an excuse.
The only excuse for bigotry is the fact that the person is an idiot.
"don't mind Kenji, I know he says bad things about westerners, but then again he is an idiot"

They don't hate Tom Cruise. They even celebrated a Tom Cruise day back in 2006. True story.
 
Why does the OP have such a low opinion of Japanese? They aren't all racists and bigots -- just some of them, like people anywhere else.

It is a shock to Westerners visiting Japan that racism is apparently legal and so openly practiced. There is currently a lot of anti-Muslim bigotry in the US, but a store that posted a "No-Muslims" sign would immediately be shamed into taking it down, or else be driven out of business by protests, unfavorable news reports, and lawsuits.

Problem is, crime by foreigners has been going down, not up. Obviously, he is terribly misinformed himself.

I think Asians in general hate more each others than they hate westerners !
But i've seen japanese and korean friends together so it really depends on people too..
 
I have to agree with Davey : The answers you have in your poll don't cover all thoughts. IMO, they don't love or hate westerners more or less than other nations do.. At least, this was my experience. But I only went there for three weeks and therefore got just a little insight into Japanese attitude.

I doubt it is the same guy. Racism in Japan , percieved or not tends to be a big thing.

And to a certain extent, there is no smoke without fire.

Or is it just a coincidence that every single person who has a youtube series about Japan makes a racism video.

What is the reason that Japan has these video's and threads about it, but Holland does not?
 
I dont think Japanese hate Westerners.

I have stayed in Japan for a few years, I have never come upon any signs that says NO FOREIGNERS ALLOWED.

However, I did come upon some signs that says JAPANESE ONLY.
English is not their first language. So I think it is a misunderstanding.
I saw the sign at a government office at some queue. Perhaps what they are trying to say is CITIZENS ONLY.
