The Chinese Zodiac Kanji

This is the latest kanjis I worked on from the Chinese Zodiac

1-The Rat 子 (ne)
2-The Ox 丑 (ushi)
3-The Tiger 寅 (tora)
4-The Hare 卯 (u)
5-The Dragon 辰 (tatsu)
6-The Serpant 巳 (mi)
7-The Horse 午 (uma)
8-The Ram 未 (hitsuji)
9-The Monkey 申 (saru)
10-The Bird 酉 (tori)
11-The Dog 戌 (inu)
12-The Boar 亥 (i)

note that the kanji used differ from the kanji usually used for these animals
1-The Rat 鼠 ねずみ
2-The Ox 牛 うし
3-The Tiger 虎 とら
4-The Hare 兎 うさぎ
5-The Dragon 竜 りゅう
6-The Serpant 蛇 へび
7-The Horse 馬 うま
8-The Ram 羊 ひつじ
9-The Monkey 猿 さる
10-The Bird 鳥 とり
11-The Dog 犬 いぬ
12-The Boar 猪 いのしし、猪 い

i haven't seen the one 兎 (うさぎ) before. interesting.

1-The Rat 鼠 ねずみ
3-The Tiger 虎 とら
4-The Hare 兎 うさぎ

are usually written in katakana, I think.

You might have seen 兎に角 around ...

兎に角: That is a classic one - I actually know a translator who thought it meant "horns on a rabbit" meaning something incongruous - which it probably did originally, just a silly phrase to change the subject I guess??
