Taiji Dolphin industry

#FrustratedDave I am going to indulge you just because you had the heart to ask.. Yes, i believe in a divine presence, and simply because no-one can prove otherwise. If you want to know if i go to church every week, no i do not, i do not exercise my faith in that way but i do not have any problem with it either. Are 'you' now willing to answer a few questions, or is it insulting to you to talk to a person with an orange condom on their head?

You probably did not know that Green and Gold are the national colours of my home country in Australia, and i will forgive your comment this once!

If that is the case , do you expect other people to believe in your faith of god? Or do you respect their right to religion?

at the end of it all.. i will still be on the higher ground.

Bingo!

Just as I said.....this is all self-serving conspicuous compassion for the sole purpose of making Tim Roberts feel good about Tim Roberts!

i respect their right to faith.. we don't need to have the same view of the world to have an appreciation for everything in the world!

Look.. it can't get plainer than this.. i hate what is happening in Taiji. If you have ever swum with dolphins you would understand the tragedy of killing so many of them for no good reason. When they look you in the eye, they see the best, the utter joy, inside of you.. I am not saying that is a good enough reason to leave them be, but if you have had that experience, it is more than enough reason to believe that these creatures should not be hunted. The logic.. simply put, is that Dolphins form a crucial part of the marine eco-system. If you reduce their numbers, then you increase the impact that smaller species of fish have on the base of the marine food chain. Algae, coral, krill and shrimp... will devastate their own food supply without these majestic 'predators' to keep the eco-system in balance. You can't change nature without it 'biting back'. It is not really a lot more complicated than that, but IT IS difficult to explain to people who don't want to acknowledge that there is a problem!

Will you afford now, no amount of care? Sustainability is not just a concept easily thrown about by politicians for their own purpose. It is necessary for our future. Who would know that killing a single dolphin would assist in our own destruction?

NO! It is not easy to see where the line in the sand is that should not be crossed, but we certainly need to understand that there is a line, and the events in Taiji don't just cross that line.. they obliterate and massacre it!

Sorry, but a country the size of Japan barely makes a dent in the world's ecological problems, and even more important, the hunting of dolphin is only a small percentage of the country. It is not for sale in pretty the whole place. I don't know a single person who's had it.

I can understand the protest of the dolphin hunts on the basis that they are inhumane, but that they are making an impact on the world environment? That is a poor argument, and not likely to attract many converts. It's simply not true.

OK, im only gonna put 2 more cents worth in there. A hundred trees from the Amazon would go un-noticed, but from anywhere else would be devastating. If you play the statistics you are missing the point!

Is there an argument of why the Taiji massacre should occur the way it does, every single day?

That's not true either. A hundred trees happens all the time, without the feel of being devastating. When I was a kid, there was a forest behind my school. Then, two years later, it was an apartment. Yeah, animals were squeezed out, but all were the kind that could adapt to the city. The deer and bears had long since left.

Does the Taiji massacre happen daily? Really?

If you want to bring people to your side, you need to be honest with your statements.

Umm.. yes, the Taiji massacre is a daily occurence.

How is it that none of you know this? It really does happen every day.

20,000 dolphins every year slaughtered!!! I am not making it up! It really does happen, and if anything, that is actually an underestimation of the numbers because they are doing more and more every year.

There is no middle ground.. they do not operate a business that is concerned with the welfare of the dolphins. Many drown in the nets, more are run over by the propellors of the 'trainers' when they select baby calves for captivity, and whatever is left of their trade turns the water red when they slaughter the remainder of them. Have you not ever seen the film that was made about it? It is called 'The Cove'. If you have seen it, and you have also been following the @CoveGuardians then you know full well that it is much worse than the world knows, and those waters get much redder than can be imagined.

I am not exaggerating anything. If you would but take a moment to look for yourself.

There is a team of international activists that have been living there for the past 3 years [since the world became aware of it], documenting and live-streaming video [every day, see the link at the beginning of this thread to view it now]. They have not caused any trouble and have not broken any laws, they simply point their cameras and tell us all what is happening out there. They are wonderful people who simply care about these majestic animals in the wild.

I know about the movie, The Cove, but haven't seen it. I was under the impression it was an annual occurrence. I'll look into it. All the same, dolphin meat is highly restricted in Japan, and in a decade living here, I've only seen it once on a menu, and that was in a single shop in Okinawa which I was told had special government approval to sell it. Dolphin slaughter and consumption really isn't a part of daily life in Japan.

Activists got visas to live here for three years? What class of visa does that come under?

You're going to come protest when others do? Well, according to you, there is a permanent presence and you said you'd come when others do. So why are you still sitting on your butt at home doing NOTHING yourself while yelling at others for not going? Why aren't you out losing a job and using personal funds to go to Taiji yourself instead of yelling at us for not doing it?

Wikipedia indicates that the hunt occurs between September and April....not the 365 days a year you are making it out to be. And the tiwn's voluntary catch limit is one-tenth the figure you claim.

Lies, distortions, exaggerations, evasiveness, sensationalism, and all the other nonsense you've engaged in here are counterproductive to the cause you espouse, which is why I said people like you are the worst enemy of advancing the cause of responsible environmental stewardship.

But you don't care about that, because as been so richly displayed in this thread so many times, this is about nothing more than making Tim Roberts feel Tim Roberts is important, significant, relevant, and morally superior. Your "action" consists of nothing more than sitting at home drawing attention to yourself under the pretense of drawing attention to your cause. Any real and perhaps meaningful action that would advance your cause is anathema to you if it involves the slightest personal expense, hardship, moving away from your keyboard (probably at your mom's house), or....worst of all....not receiving any personal recognition for it.

Mike, i can't make you listen to what i am saying, and it is clear you have not heard much of what i have said because very little of what you just said is true. In fact none of what you just said is true.

I have not exaggerated anything, nor do i care about the things you are claiming that i do. You don't understand because you don't want to, and whether you do or not isn't my problem nor something that i have asked you to do.

As for the holding of a Visa, i hardly think returning home to reapply is what you can call having a break, nor do i know if the same people have been their the whole time. I hardly think explaining these things is a constructive use of my time because if you were involved in any way, you would see how obvious it is and how much sense it makes, even if, according to me, that you are not making any.

OK, perhaps i am ignoring you a little more than i should, or that i am not being sensitive to your own cause, but i don't see why that makes a difference because we are clearly not on the same page here. I don't feel the need to justify who i am, because it doesn't matter. All of your protesting doesn't change the fact that i am doing everything i can with what i have available to me right now.

The @CoveGuardians, as is the term that has been coined, are wonderful people, doing what i can only admire at this point. Maybe its all i can ever do!

"Yes, i believe in a divine presence, and simply because no-one can prove otherwise."

Ah, so logic is your problem, is it? Do you also believe in Bigfoot, flying saucers, and elves for the same reason?

So it's blood in the water that upsets you? Blood is an excellent dye. Next time you cut your finger, let a few drops drip into a bowl of water. It will all turn red.

Yes, you can't harvest dolphins without shedding blood. Have you ever visited a cattle, pig, or horse slaughterhouse? Tell you what, come up here next fall and I'll show you some blood, when we're done butchering a moose.

OK.. so we're talking about aliens now are we? On that note.. it's a pretty big universe out there and nothing would surprise me. I think its shocking the way we treat our world, and each other.

Yeah, i would feel good about myself if the TAIJI massacre came to end. I know i would have helped. Even though i would not ultimately have changed it, i am still partaking in the effort to stop it, and be a part of a group of wonderful people who together, HAVE made it happen. Have you never experienced success like that? I implore you to give it a go. You won't be sorry.

If the price for taking action is that i will be accused of being self-serving, i am willing to pay it! Take a moment then to understand how amazing people can be! I make no such claim, nor could you accuse me of it! I mean seriously?

The fisherman, killers, trainers and shipmates are out again on the waters around the cove searching for another pod. You can actually stop this!

Ur kidding me right?

You don't know where you are.. LOL (if that is what it takes after the rain!)

Does that mean you are awake now?

Tell me, why are you always #FrustratedDave ?

Do you understand what status-Quo means? I get the impression that you don't!

Tim, to use the multiquote feature just click on the multiquote icon at the bottom right of all the posts you want to reply to, then hit "Reply" at the bottom of the page.

When you do things the way you have been, it is very hard to figure out what your one-liners were in reply to as the text gets lost when the forum auto-merges your posts.

sounds like you know what you are doing Mike.. i'll give that a try. This is quite an interesting forum compared to what i am used to.

they've got another pod driven into the cove.. just another day! If you don't believe it, watch the live stream!

Yawn again... Can't you come up with better one liners than that?
