Superbowl XL - Seattle have been robbed!

Oh, yeah! I forgot to mention the gadget play the Steelers ran (the Randle El to Ward touchdown) in the fourth quarter that sealed Seattle's fate. Everyone on God's green Earth knew Bill Cowher was going to call one in the game, including the Seahawks, and they STILL couldn't stop it! Yet another reason Seattle blew it at the Super Bowl.

Agreed, but they didn't have Andre Dyson in at cornerback at the time. But it probably wouldn't have made a difference.

The ball was in the crook of his arm and the elbow crossed the plain...which obviously the ball did too! It was a good call...but I feel as though Seattle was screwed on their first touchdown (non-call)...that was not enough to be called a pushoff!

It is the ball that has to cross the white line, even if by a millimeter. But I sincerely do not think it crossed the white line. In fact, I think it was that elbow that the ref saw. Heck, the ref didn't even throw up both hands at first. One arm was going up and then just about the time the QB did that little extra move both arms went up. A very delayed reaction. Not the usual style a ref uses to call a touchdown. Actually, official, right? Only one ref. And, Mr. 25%, didn't overturn the call.

I think the non-holding call was a real burn. When momentum is lost like that it's anybody's guess what the outcome would have been without the human/ref interference.

That call concerning the block -- weird. Very weird.

Those refs will be reviewing that game for training purposes for a very long time.

Those were some terrible calls! And how come they were only against the Seahawks and only when they made a big play? In the regular season the Seahawks were one of the least penalized teams around because they play clean ball.

Yes, there was a lot of bad calls. Lots! The holding was a hold. as much as I would love to deny it, roethlesberger did cross the plain. Really! The block was messed up. That was just ridiculous, how could that be a block when it was a tackle. He was on Defense! not Offense. I hope some refs will be questioned with their intentions!

That push off by jackson was a push off. That was a good call. It cost the defensive player momentum.

Maybe so, but I doubt anything will change in light of the head of officials for the NFL coming out a day or two later saying the officiating during the playoffs had been top notch. Talk about denial! The officiating was anything but excellent, start to finish! I still think that THE most horrible call during the postseason was Troy Palamalu's interception against Indianapolis being reversed and called a dropped ball instead. While Ben Roethlisberger's phantom TD was viewed more times than the Zapruder film, that call was worse. If anything, that game had the conspiracy geeks screaming bloody murder that the refs were fixing the game in the Colts' favor. The refs are gonna be raked over the coals for all their bad calls for quite some time.

Yeah, I agree with that Brooker. I just recently had a b-ball game where we got called for the lamest things. Then the other team would do it, or even worse stuff and they wouldn't even blow the damn whistle. After the game we saw the refs hanging out with the other team. They were screwing us. I refuse to play with those refs. It just makes me not interested in the game.

Not to worry, Brooker! No way that's gonna happen! Short of Paul Taglibue coming right out and admitting games are fixed, nothing can hurt the popularity of the NFL. Stadiums will still be sold out and TV ratings will still be high, nothing bad will result from what happened at the Super Bowl. Even without the bad calls, Seattle still would've lost. In the end, despite how incredibly sloppy the game was, the best team (Pittsburgh) still won.

I agree. But in a game that evenly matched, bad calls can completely shift the balance of the game. Seattle was looking like the better team in the first half, but the bad calls seemed to rob their momentum and the game got away from them. Every little thing makes a difference and I think those bad calls were a factor. If the Seahawks had lost by a touchdown I would have been really pissed. But yeah, even without the bad calls, Pittsburg may still have been the victor.

Oh, I agree. Seattle was the better team in the first half. Yet, they failed to take advantage of their opportunities to put points on the board, and put Pittsburgh in a hole at the same time. Since the Steelers don't have come from behind punch because they rely so much on their power running game, they would've had nothing but trouble trying to catch the Seahawks. That would've meant putting the game entirely in the hands of Ben Roethlisberger, and that's not how Pittsburgh operates. In the end, the bad calls were A factor, not THE factor that cost Seattle the game.

Hideki: You need to actually score points in order to make it to the Super Bowl, and the Bears haven't quite mastered that particular skill yet.

I'll admit that game surprised me greatly, especially since the Panthers allegedly had one of the better defenses in the NFC, and yet, the Bears torched Carolina pretty good. However, I seriously doubt Rex Grossman will keep the league's defensive coordinators awake at night next season.

Well, I thought Dilfer had a little more talent than Grossman does, but the only way either gets into Canton (home of the football Hall of Fame) is with a ticket. But given that the NFC is considerably weaker than the AFC, who's to say the Bears can't get lucky next season and go the Supe.

If Seattle loses Shaun Alexander, they're back to being nobodies, Atlanta's a one trick pony with Mike Vick who doesn't impress me, and the NFC East teams (including my Eagles who went belly up) aren't quite good enough. That leaves Carolina whom I thought were going to win the conference. I think they will next season.

As for the Jazz, you probably know that team used to be in New Orleans before they moved out west and for reasons I could never understand, they never bothered changing the name which sounds incredibly stupid, given where the team is right now.

Well, I use to be into the sixers, then I just stopped liking the NBA all together. I am more into the NCAA. But haven't watched much of that lately.
But I am starting to watch more Jazz since there really isn't anything on when it's Televised. (I don't have cable or dish, etc... Yeah, I know)
