Just asking you how did this question come about? Where did you read the word deserve, when it should be deserves?
Sorry about that, What I asked you was..

Thought you were joking!
It's the little green bar(s) under your username here...I hovered over one member's collection of little green bars (not that it/they mean anything in the greater scheme...) and it said 'X deserve respect'. I just thought it was a small 'crinkle' in the system that could/should easily be ironed out...
I get the impression that things aren't fixed round here unless you PM someone in charge. Still, if that's how things work then so be it. I just wanted to give a little heads-up. And I have to say that the forum runs pretty well as it is, it seems, and that the moderation is so far pretty good (thank you guys!)

I can't think how the spelling mistakes made their way into the user rep titles haha![]()
Seriously, though, many thanks for that, the work of everyone who helps with the site is very much appreciated![]()
This thread's quite entertaining to read back. And, somehow, one of my most popular so far too, lol.

Now then since it has been changed does anyone else besides me think that "you deserves respect" is incorrect?
If I said man-of-stone deserves respect, ok no problem, but the verb must agree with the subject in number and person right. Someone correct me if I wrong here?
However if the girl or guy's name was 窶堙、窶堋、 Yuu orツ 窶堙、 Yu, then it would be ok as those are proper names and not a pronoun.
Are Admin1 and I the only ones to have caught this?![]()
I've never thought about this aspect of the English language - "you" being singular but not needing the "s" in "deserves". I'm really glad I've never had to learn English as a foreign language!
You can be singular or plural, depending on how you're using it at the time. Thanks for this most entertaining thread!!![]()
