Hello guys ,

So I am learning japanese and these times are learning kanjis and I don't understand this combination 大人
I would like someone to tell me the different parts of these kanjis like if the first one is "oto" or "o" i don't know . Because in my books i never saw that "人" could be said な .

Hope you understand my question , if not tell me .

Thank you very much
ありがとうございます!

It's called 熟字訓 jukujikun.
Kanji - Wikipedia

There are tons of these kinds of compound words in Japanese, whose readings have nothing to do with the readings of each kanji, as in the examles in the wikiedia page linked above.

Hi toritoribe
Thank you very much for your answer ! So if i understand when i will encounter some jukujikun i have no choice to learn them by heart .

Right. We, native Japanese speakers, also do like that from childhood (and even now).
