Special usages of to iu??

こぎれいではあるがだんらんのない家庭という檻の中に、つながれているという思いがつのった。

Can anyone here please explain to me the usages of to iu here?? to iu in this sentence doesn't seem to make any sense to me.....because from what i know to iu is a quote marker...but the usages of to iu here is a bit diff from the usual quote marker...
So if anyone knows here, can u please explain it to me?? I will really appreciate any help available....

and does kogirei dewa aru means having a nice home??

Kogirei means neat, shipshape, clean, etc.
Danran is often used to describe a family, that is happy.
So "kogirei dewaaru ga danran no nai katei" means the home is well-kept, nicely clean but it lacks in family hapiness.
The speaker compares that home to a cage.

～という思い : a feeling/thought that is.....
～という檻 : a cage that is.....

To iu here indicate that its preceding clause explains the noun that follows.

The speaker has a feeling that he is chained in a cage which is a home which is nice and clean but without happiness. and the feeling is growing/mounting inside himself.

≪【こぎれいではあるがだんらんのない家庭】という【檻】の中に 、つながれている≫という≪思い≫がつのった。

Ermmm...I sincerely apologized for this but it seems that I forgot to include the qns of the usage of de as in こぎれいではあるが.

I cant seem to understand the usage of de here that follows kogirei...

Its from である＝だ（です） the は there is contrastive.

yeah, to iu here is preceding clause.
