So... I'm planning on getting a new TV maybe

Never bought a new TV in Japan, and I expect Don Quixote to have one of the cheaper prices. However, while paranoid, I'm wondering if they will requirement to sign anything directly or give an address for the evil NHK nazi's if i were to buy it new? Is there anything I should watch out for? I know that analog signals supposedly will be gone too soon, but not sure if I misheard.

Although I disagree with your adversion to NHK payment, I can tell you that when I most recently bought a TV in Japan (2 or 3 years ago), I didn't have to supply my contact info to NHK. The satellite channels would only work for about a week or so if I remember correctly without paying, however.
