So, I'm still a beginner in my Japanese, and I recently started reading to improve my skills, and things were going smoothly so far with my understanding of what I was reading. But then I arrived at this part of the book discussing how a character named Claire (Claire is a ghost in this situation) has to help a character named Ashley (who's alive) complete a task on earth. Both characters have romantic affections for the same man (John). And in this situation, Claire is helping Ashley complete a task needed to save the life of the man they love. The part that I'm overthinking is: ア ッ シ ュ リー の 中 に あ る 、 ハ リ ー を 想 う 心 に す べ てを 委 ね る 。
This had been previously translated by someone else as saying that Claire was entrusting her feelings to Ashley. As in, Claire loves John but since she's a ghost she cannot physically do the task herself, so she put all her feelings for John within Ashley in order to work together to save John. Similar to when someone will say "I'm putting my trust in you to get this job done" kind of ordeal.
Admittedly, I may be overthinking this, hence making any mistakes. But when I read this line myself, it seems to be saying Claire entrusted everything to Ashley because of Ashley's feelings for John. As in, Claire knew Ashley loved John, so she had faith that Ashley would get the job done to save John's life since Claire physically could not do it herself.
It's not a transfer of Claire's romantic feelings for John, but more like "I know we both love him, so I have faith that Ashley will do what I can't (i.e., save John's life)".
Which interpretation is correct?
